Newsletters & Digests

I know many of us receive daily, weekly or monthly email letters or digests from our choosen websites.
I quite like these because they update me on what's going on on each site without having to sign in, For example, the Mylot digest.
How do you feel about these newsletters/digests? Spam or do you like them?
If you like them what makes them so great? Content? Layout or frequency??

I receive newsletters regularly. I am interested in them especially those related to my line of business. I subscribe to them , some free, some with payments. They are very good, like you say, to keep updated with the latest developments.
