Squeaking hamster?

We have many hamsters, 5 dwarfs, one blind Syrian and a Teddy Bear hamster. The teddy bear squeaks for reasons unknown. Does anyone know why hamsters squeak? I can't find any information on this. I think it's neat, she sounds so funny when she squeaks.

I have no idea why hamsters squeak. That sounds funny, though. I have only ever been around one hamster in my life. When I was in college my roommate had a hmaster. The hamster used to always crawl into our couches and chairs and get stuck. We used to have to cut open the bottoom of our furniture so the hamster could get out!

Lol, we've never had that. The worst thing that ever happened with one hamster was that she got out of her cage and wound up in my computer. We couldn't find here anywhere, but then I decided to look in the computer since it had a hole in it.

That's funny! At least our hamster never snuck into the computer. I guess he was just fond of sneaking into our couches and chairs!

Sadly I had one hamster that escaped the cage during the night. Before I was even out of bed, I noticed the furnace kept making a helicopter noise. I noticed later that the hamster was gone and put the two together. I didn't dare look, so when my husband came home at lunchtime, I sent him downstairs to investigate the furnace. My husband found the worst in the fan. It was an unfortunate ending for our little kamikaze pilot.

Sometimes respiratory problems can sound like squeaking. None of my hamsters squeaked, but when I bred gerbils I was also warned to listen for squeaking since that meant they could be allergic to their bedding. Maybe hamsters don't have that kind of problem, but I guess it could be a possibility that you have a hamster that needs some Claritin. I sure hope not though, and I hope that you just have a chatterbox instead.
