anyone ever hear a song that's really good or great and then see the music video and say what was that? have you seen a music video that just doesn't live up to the quality of the song for which it was made? i was watching the music video for bonnie tyler total eclipse of the heart and it just doesn't live up to the quality of the song for which it was made. can anyone else think of others?

Yes, or there is a really bad song that has a very good video. In the 80's I noticed a lot great songs had very BAD music videos! But some of the 80's video's were kinda funny. A bad 80's video that comes to mind is Elton John's video for the song " I'm still standing", yikes, I cringe every time that video comes on V-h1, then I quickly look for the TV remote to change the channel....I think a lot of the elecrtonica bands have some pretty good videos. Like for example some of The Chemical Brothers video's are pretty cool.

i think i remember seeing the elton john one recently now that you mention it. i actually like the song, but the video is very forgettable. i really am i fan of 80's music, but i was young when i alot of these songs came out for example when bonnie tyler's song came out i was either 7 or 8, but i remember that song it was probably about the time i really started listening to music. it kinds of brings back some memories from my childhood back when i was about that age i would go watch my dad bowl in his friday night league and their wasn't much for a kid to do there, but that had a jukebox and i remember the bonnie tyler song being on it and bryan adams run to you that was about the time i really started listening to songs. thanks for your response :-) ahh memories. :-)

I'm a major 80's music fan also. I think I have almost every popular techno and synthpop song from back then.. I remember a lot the videos back then were considered "cool" and cutting edge but by today's standards they are very laughable and cheesy! But I still love a lot of those videos! Like Duran Duran were the it video band of the 1980's. I love the early 80's new wave and new romantic music era & the moody moog synths sounds..I love bands like Ultravox early Spandau Ballet,Human League,David Bowie, Gary Newman & Missing Persons.. I could go on for ever naming some of my faves!..hehe.. I was a kid & teen in the 80's and I also remember music being a big part of my early years as well..YAY for 80's music!

I think "Talk You Down" by The Script is good. They just released the music video for it and I did not like the video at all. I thought it came out (very) cheesy and over-produced. Honestly, if I haven't heard the song before seeing the video, I would not have bothered listening to it -- thank goodness I've already heard it and liked it. Hopefully, people wouldn't be put off by this cheesy "talk you down" video because the song is actually good.

I don't watch music videos anymore. In fact I can't really remember the last one I saw. I have been a production assitant on them before and they are made with a few things in mind, seldom the song itself.
