Sometimes there are spelling mistakes and sometimes we answer when our mood is not right and as soon as we clicked post response and sometimes we want to change one line or word sometimes whole of the discussion. Also sometimes we get rude responses in discussion we have started and want to omit that reply from our discussion.

There is a 'preview response' button, which is intended to allow us to read through our responses before we post them. I haven't yet come across anyone who uses it regularly. If you use Firefox there is a dictionary add-in which will do a spell-check as you type and underlines any words it doesn't have in the dictionary with red dots. I find that very useful (and it works in many text-entry situations). Dealing with rude or inappropriate responses is always up to Admin. If you find any response (or discussion) objectionable, you should use the '!' symbol, which appears against every discussion and response (except your own) alongside the '-' and '+' symbols. When asked about the possibility of editing discussions and responses, MyLot have always replied that there is the facility of previewing your post and that to allow editing after that might tend to make a nonsense of responses and comments that were already posted. From what they have said frequently in the past, there are definitely no plans to make it possible to edit discussions, responses or comments after they have been posted. The only answer is to re-read your post and to think twice before finally posting anything. This is a habit to be encouraged in any case!

That's right. I've no problem with the system either. When you get used to the system, previewing before submitting; it allows a sense of responsibility and well if one thought you've missed has not been added to that post, you can always post another one and so forth right. In that way, it could be replied by others too and thus spurs a thread of discussion.

thank owlwings for the response and yes there is preview but sometimes after we post it we feel stupid and yes i know firefox has dictionary but problem is they all have American Dictionary and not Proper English Dictionary, so many a times when red line comes under the words i know i have written correct spellings it shows wrong .

It would be nice if you could edit things. I have misspelled things or left out a word and didn't catch the mistake until after I posted it, making my response seem like something different than what I meant for it to.

I was thinking about that too. I like to edit some misspellings also in my previous posts but as long as the reader understood the thought, it can't diminish a potential reply. That's also very nice because you don't have to clarify but well, it's a discussion and the conversation will keep going on regardless of the misspellings.

I understand what your saying, but there has been times even after I have looked over what I've written, I might still overlook something. I guess if we post our discussions or reply's and there's a mistake in there, I would say just don't worry about it then. Just move on to the next one and have fun.

I agree that it'd be nice to be able to edit our posts. Luckily I don't fret too much over it because I can be obsessive compulsive about things. This just isn't 1 of those things though.

thanks but there are sometimes u cant even say u screwed up as u did it real bad, like i was responding to my discussions comments on day and did about 50 or so and i got used to thx for the reply and then suddenly i started to reply to someone else discussion and first thing i do is, the first response in that discussion i say thanks for the response and then wrote the response like it was my discussion and only when i submitted the response that i realized that oh god this wasnt even my discussion.

It would have been better had mylot would have allowed us to edit/delete our responses. But, they have given us the option to preview our responses and then submit them. It takes time but it is a way we can prevent ourselves from posting wrong comments or responses at wrong places. chances of committing mistakes are very small unless you are taking too short a time to respond to a discussion. I take sometime to think and then respond to a discussion, I have never needed to edit my response. Good luck.

I often miss spell stuff by typing to fast and getting my thoughts out.I noticed on other sites or message boards you have an edit option and I think it would be a good idea to have it,coz you can't correct your comment also there is no delete option if you want to change your comment and start over, would be nice if we had edit or delete on here.

I really wish MyLot would allow us to edit and delete our own responses. I also think it would be a wise choice to allow members to be able to delete comments off their own content if they wish. That way if someone si stalking them with negative comments in order to get their discussion taken down. They can remove those comments and keep their discussion.

Thanks rusty 2 rusty for the response and i think if they dont allow us to delete our responses atlest they should let us modify it as modifying a response wont hurt their calculations much and also give the option of the starter of discussion to remove a rude comment.

This is a good point. Editing is not a big issue (as the buddies above have discussed about the view this comment button to check the punctuations/spelling mistakes. It would be even better if we read whatever we typed before submitting, it would even not require the view button), but the option to delete our own post or the posts against our discussions would be useful. This way, the discussion starter can keep a track that the discussion is on the correct path by deleting irrelevant posts. The only problem with this is that mylot reviews posts by users to pay them. And suppose someone writes a post and it gets deleted, then the money for the same would be gone. My solution for the problem would be to provide the delete button with the post only after 24/48 hrs of the post so that one who posts gets rewarded, at the same time extra monitoring power to mylot users.

Hi Amit Kumar singh, My solution for the problem would be to provide the delete button with the post only after 24/48 hrs of the post so that one who posts gets rewarded, at the same time extra monitoring power to mylot users. I couldn't understand it. What do you mean by having a delete option after 24/48 hours of posting? Even after 24 hours people can respond to his/her discussion so what is the point of providing delete option after 24 hours? I didn't get it! If possible please resond to my query to response number 51 for the same discussin. i will not get a notification mail for yur comment. Appriciattion in advance.

I would like to be able to edit my responses, because I find that I might type something and then preview it and read it through and everything is fine and then I send it and realise that it could be read in a different way. Eg, I may have meant something in a joking way, but it might come across as me being mean or nasty.

Hi Elixiress! I see what you mean. I responded to a comment on a discussion I started here lately and after reading it, I thought the person would think I was trying to be bossy. I wasn't, though. I was just concerned about him. It was in my discussion about water. This person said all he did was just drink water and hardly ate anything. I told him I thought it was good that he drank as much water as he did but he needed to eat something as well. I wrote back to him later and apologized if I sounded bossy. I know how I feel when anybody bosses me or tells me what I need to do. Kathy.

I wish MyLot would allow editing after posting! Just before responding to your discussion I added a comment to one of my earlier responses because I noticed a really embarrassing spelling mistake I made; it was quite silly and I wish I could go in and fix it! All I could do was apologise and it's still there for everyone to see!

Hi Paulla, *bow* Ah, those silly spelling mistakes and we enjoy watching them in our discussions. AFter all to err is human. Now, even if you are using spell checker yu can still make spelling misakes, can't you but having a spell checker is worth. So, if you are using IE8.0 then you can opt for IEpro7 which will have a spelling checker with it. You can go for Mozila Firefox which has a spelling checker in built!

Hi sanuanu, I have IE7 and there is a spell checker with it as you say, but alas some errors still get through...It's not a big deal, I'm sure most people would understand! I hate seeing stupid errors from my part, it doesn't bother me so much when other people do it!

I agree - it would be nice to have an edit button. Often, you only see a mistake once you've submitted - I hate that, as I'm such a perfectionist! I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to have an "edit" code on our profiles - most non-pay forums have this, and I've yet to go on a forum where it's misused.

i think there is no need for editing in this mylot.as all people here are giving good answers and if some people feel they need editing, they can see preview first and then submit any answer. delete option is there for us in photo uploadings ,other than that there is no delete option for us for our own discussions. mylot admin can delete our answers or posts at any time ,they feel if any discussion or answer is violated. but i think for us ,there is no need for deleting our own discussions or answers.

Hi,agrim94 Nice topic!I have thought abut the same problem for sometime.Everyone makes mistakes,so we should have the chance to edit our responses or discussions.Once I started two same discussions by mistake and I am really sorry about that but what I can do is only to comment on the first response saying that I have made a mistake. Well, that is terrible.Things should have a change now! Have a nice day!

They do have a preview response, but sometimes that is not enough. The trouble that then the post response will have to become to preview response. And if you really want to get your response off because you are rather nervous about the subject, so the sooner I post the better. I think a better idea would to have a delete this response that will bring one back to the original or a choice of writing in Word or Open Office on our hard drive and upload it, but that would be a bit too much involvement.

Hey agrim! There are time that I wish that I could at least edit my response after I have submitted it! But, then that wouldn't be fair I guess! Then everyone would always want to change their responses and it would just go on that way forever and we wouldn't get very far in a discussion! So I guess mylot has already thought of that and decided that once you submit your response that is the way it will stay! I guess does make sense even if we don't really like it!
