The muscles on my neck and shoulders are so tight to the point of being painful. I also stressed out and so restless. What do you do I need? Just wanted to check if were on the same trackDo make suggestions and I'll try some of it just for kicks.

The reason that your neck and shoulder muscles are tense is basically because you are emotionally stressed in some way. You may not think that you are and you may not consciously know why (but if you think about it, I think you may identify the cause). You need to deal with the pent-up emotions which are causing you stress. First it's necessary to identify them (if you can) and then it's necessary to deal with them by 'de-fusing' them in whatever way you know best. If you don't know how to do this, then you may find EFT (Emotional Freedon Technique) interesting and useful. This involves a simple sequence of tapping on certain points on your body, which are actually recognised acupuncture points, while repeating phrases which relate to the feelings which are causing a log-jam in your psyche or energy flow. You can read about it and learn the technique completely free here: http://f64dd99f.linkbucks.com

I was under a lot of stress for the past 2 weeks and that might be the cause. Thanks for the link.

You need to find some good relaxation exercises. You are tense all the time and you need to learn to feel your tension and learn to relax when you are feeling too tense. And deep breathing exercises help also. You just need to take some time to learn your body and learn how to control it. Good Luck!

Noted, too. Learning to relax is one thing that I'd really want to do.

When I was still working in the factory I had painful muscles in my neck and shoulders much of the time, and learned a few simple exercises to help relieve the tension: 1. Tuck your chin down toward your chest and then turn your head to one side as if you were looking over your shoulder at something. Keeping your chin tucked, turn your head and look over the other shoulder. Repeat until you feel the tense muscles stretched out. 2. Move your shoulders up to your ears (like an exaggerated shrug)and hold for several seconds, then move your shoulders downward. Repeat a few times. Hope this helps!

rest and relaxation - nothing beats a good 'ol massage
What you need to do is relax. Take time off work. Also, try to get a good massage. Go to a nearby spa for a dose of rest and relaxation. It's both healthy and invigorating.

Noted. I hope to do so this weekend if not earlier. I think I still have a gift certificate somewhere for a massage.

www.alexandertechnique.com Hopefully the link works... you can never be sure with mylot :S Essentially it's re-learning how to use your body, for example I used to pull my shoulders forwards alot which caused lots of tension problems across the top of my back, but as I'm correcting it then I'm getting less and less pain. I discovered it when I went on a music course (I'm a tromboneist) and they had it there for free "tasters" as it were so I thought why not, and I think it's been one of the better decisions I've made in the last year.
