Even I wanted one such software since I am working on a book and I find typing too tedious for me. Also, the flow of the thought gets disrupted due to the time taking typing job. So, I made an intense search (even put a discussion on mylot about the same) and I found some solutions. I'd be happy to share these with you. If you have Windows XP then you already have a good speech dictation/recognition system built in. Additional capabilities can be added using the e-Speaking Voice and Speech Recognition software (See: http://www.e-speaking.com/). Microsoft has a good summary on their website called: "How to install and configure speech recognition in Windows XP" (See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/magazine/cc163663.aspx , http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q306537). I also learnt about a software called "Dragon Naturally Speaking" software. This software is one of the best available softwares about the same. Here are some video links to assist you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYu6_cNRCD4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io40bTjlYCY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZRSPXHOlLI

I know they are out there for English, because the roomie knows totally blind people that use screen readers, and the talk/type programs have been around a long time, and getting better all the time

There is a software Fwaanga. But it has to understand your tone and dialect. I mean you have to talk in BS accent. There are some softwares that transcribes into words whatever you say and send it to your email box but I am not sure if it is for your country or not. One such software is: http://jott.com/default2.aspx Thanks.

I have same thought about Dragon Naturally Speaking. I have been known about that software for some years. I see there's much improvement they made from time to time and getting much better than their first released. So far i think that is the best voice recognition software on the market. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

I've heard a good deal about Dragon Naturally Speaking, which is a program designed to type whatever you speak. Perhaps this is what you're looking for?

If you are talking about software to talk over the internet then there isn't any. However, there is hardware to talk to people over the internet such as microphones and headsets. If you think about it, even if there was software that says words then you would need to tell it what to say and therefore you would have to type in the words that you want the software to speak.
