Hello everyone!!! I get about seven to ten missed calls a day from my friends and I also give missed calls to them. Well, the missed calls signifies that I remember you. Calling is bit expensive in our country and without reason to talk, we don't call each other. But missed calls is very much popular. Sometimes, missed calls speak up languages. Like I inform to my friend previously that when I reach at your doorstep, I will missed call you. Then I simply save my cell balance..... Well do you give or get missed calls? How many a day?

missed call means "I missed you when I called"? that's great~it means everything without a word.I like it~ sometimes I missed calls and I always called back, cause I'm afraid someone's looking for me for something.I have less missed calls....maybe from now on, can start a new game named"missed call"with friends.

Hello kimutaku!!! Yeah, it can mean thus. I MISS YOU. Every thing without a word and really the money saving on the one hand and on the other hand making our friends happy. I know my friends rarely call me with their cells phones. If I get missed calls from cells phones then I only give back missed calls. There is no chance that someone give me missed call with their landline. So immediately when I get missed calls from landline, I would call back. Most of the time I leave my mobile in the room though I am out of the room, that's why I may miss some calls. Yeah, you can play the missed calls game. There was a time we used to compete giving missed calls to each other. But due to the poor network nowadays, we don't do it too often. Network is very very bad in my country Nepal. I hope it will improve in the future...And enjoy your game. Good luck!! Have a nice time and thanks for responding....

I'm a giver and a receiver. Haha. I don't have a number of missed or given calls per day. It depends on if I'm out on an errand/activity and forget my cell at home.. My family does that "I'll missed called you when I'm home (etc)" too. It does save your balance, and I don't think it's too rude. I sometimes tell my friends that I'll call them for three 'beeps' (three phone beeps), to let them know that I've arrived or something similar. Have a nice day!

Hello starduskp!!! Hmm that's the thing, the language of missed calls yeah...Like if I give you missed call in the morning then it means I am saying you "Good morning" and if I give missed calls to you in the night then I am saying "Good night". Pretty saving of the money and making friends happy too isn't it. And the consideration of number of beeps for something, that's even nice. I have seen my friend doing that with his girlfriend. Keep mylotting...Have nice time.

Aside from group messages, inspirational text messages and motivational text messages, in our country, missed calls are really a fad since most SIM cards offer unlimited calls and it doesn't charge in your account balance.. The good thing about missed calls in our country (Philippines) is that it is one way of reminding someone that you think about them, even despite busy schedules.. Through missed calls, you let them know that you're just there if you need someone to talk to and got nothing to do. The words "missed calls" have also been added to the Filipino dictionary spelled out as "miskol" since they really are a sentimental way of communication to others and have impacted in such a way the mode of communication of the Filipinos. That's why it is called "missed" call because it's one way of showing your friends that you actually "miss" them.. :-) The only con I can say about missed calls is that they drain your battery easier, but I guess it's even worth it if you know that many people remember you :-) But just a reminder, according to research, you should not answer your phone if the battery is low because the radiation is 1000x stronger. :-)

Hello cecillecarmela!!! You are lucky to get such a nice service for the cell phones there in Philippines. Well in our country, its not that cheaper, we don't even have free calls in the mobile phones and not even in the landline phones. I hope the Telecom with bring such nice scheme in the future in our country Nepal too... You responded very nicely on this topic. Well I am happy. Here I also found some people who say they hate missed calls, just because missed calls means to them that they have to return back the call, not the thing like I miss you. Personally, I enjoy getting missed calls very much and love to do that too. Its a one way to keep the friends in touch even though we cannot meet them. There are friends to whom I keep giving missed calls, even though we don't meet for months or even a year. This is the best thing of giving missed calls. This doesn't mean that I don't use text message at all and I am so worried about my phone balance hehe... I am happy to know that missed calls is very much popular there in Philippines such that it could obtain a space in the dictionary. Well we don't have such thing in our dictionary hehe... And there is nothing to worry about the battery. It will get recharged soon,if its drained away. But to get the missed calls is the more interesting thing than this. And I say, it's not the defect at all... And also thanks for the tips. I didn't know that the low battery has such bigger radiations. I will keep that in mind. Its the good part of mylot that we keep learning such things from each other in mylot, though minor but very much practical.... Thanks for your wonderful response... Keep mylotting...Good luck...

missed calls is like expressing someone that you remembered them without even sending them any message at all. before i send a text message to anyone in my family, relatives or friends, i drop them first a missed call so that i know that their mobile phone is not turned off. also i missed call my fiance back then after i wake up in the morning and she also dropped me a missed call then texting me saying "WAKE UP, U SLEEPY HEAD" .

Hello rymebristol!!! That's what I wanted to say rymebristol. Missed calls are the signs of remembrance. And yes it is also the good idea to missed call before actually sending the message. But most of the times, it happens to me that I send first the message and then give missed call to check is there network or if the mobile is switched off. I didn't realize I have been doing the opposite thing. Now from now on, I will do like you. First the missed call, then the message. Yeah!!!! Are you really sleepy head...Had someone message me like that, i would not have known hehe...Because when I have already slept, its difficult for me to really wake up and message really can't wake up. How can I wake up with missed calls, when I can't wake up with the alarm of cell phone. Most of the time, I don't realize missed calls, because I think that my alarm is ringing and turn it off without opening the eye lol. There was a time when I used to wake up in the very early morning with the alarm and immediately press the recieving button and say hello, hello. That was the time when I started using first time the alarm in the cell phones. Now the process is just opposite..May be you can call me "Sleepy Head" too hehe... Thanks for your response...And happy mylotting...

Hi,nzalheart Hum,I rarely do like this.Calling here is not expensive,in fact it is cheap as long as you don't call someone live in different provinces.Sometimes,I will bive a missed call to a friend to tell him that something has been done or something else alike. But it needs us to fix it in advance. It is an interesting way to call others I think. Have a nice day!

Hello hxstar!!! Yeah missed calls is sometimes interesting. When I am feeling really bored and get nothing to do, I just go on giving missed calls to many number of friends, and surely I get many missed call responses in return. And I get happy for that. Calling here is not that cheap. Even though the calling had been cheap, I hope we would have the trend of giving missed calls. It's like speaking something without a word. You too have a nice time and i am happy to get your response in this thread. Good luck

yeah, you're right, calling is expensive, that is why my friends doesn't call me all the time, they only use my landline because it's free as long as it's local call. sometimes friends from other cities just missed call me then text me later, knowing to make sure that i am on.

Hello xannebull! Its great that you have that you don't have to pay for the local calls. I wish I had the one. Most of my friends are here and I would have done many calls if it was free. But it's not free. Calling without reason can hang me up with the big telephone bills. I have once seen my friend, who called a lot to his girlfriend with is Landline, and got the bill of over 4000 Rs and then his telephone line was cut. He had to pay the sum before he get his line again. You are lucky to get them free... Thanks for your response and happy mylotting....

Cool discussion! In my country, missed calls means that the person want us to call them back. You see, our cell program here is in such a way that whoever makes the outgoing call has to pay and the incoming calls are mostly free here. So there are lots of missed calls definitely and it's sometimes getting on my nerves because I can't differentiate which is a genuine call and which is just a missed call. . And when I pick up, some of my callers get irritated and said not to pick up the next time and to call them back. I don't mind calling as long as my cell charges are not that expensive but it's a wonder when there are real troubles happening and I just wait for the phone to stop ringing when in actual fact, they are at an emergency and wanting me to pick up the calls quick.

You summed it up perfectly well. I was also in the same situation as you. But sometimes I do admit that when I wanted to get the attention of say a love one before or what, I would miss call and just kept quiet, ha!! Happy mylotting to you too, friend.

Hello zed_k4!!! This means that the missed calls have the disadvantages there. If someone gives me missed call with that intention, I will start to get irritate with the missed call for sure. If some wants to talk with me, they should call be rather than saying me call them back. It's the selfish thing, its same thing, we too have to charge like them. But fortunately, this is not the case in mine. I just get the missed calls, that means, remember you. Sometimes, it also happens that I get missed calls, with the hope that I call them back and I do call, but it doesn't happen often so I don't really mind. Here too, outgoing calls cost a change and incoming calls are totally free. And also, there is no any charge for missed calls, unless the phone is picked up. And yes, sometimes the friends, get angry for a while, when they give missed call, am I accidentally picked them so fast . It happens due to coincidence that I was just going to press the button and the phone rang at the very moment hehe... Thanks for sharing your missed call story...Keep posting...Good luck

I dont get that much of missed calles and even I used to talk with all my frnds and othere directly to wish them or to remember them. The process of missed calls may be a language that to say we are remembering. But some times it may distrub our works. Some times I use to get missed calls from my boss, when he was away from the coverage area.

In term of mobile phone expenses, Singapore is one of the most affordable place to get a mobile phone. My subscription plan allows for no payment for incoming call, I only pay when I make outgoing calls. So if I got missed calls, I rather wait for my friends to call me again. The 100 free minutes for outgoing calls is reserved for emergency calls. Most of the times we communicate by skype or online sms, which are free of charge. Sometimes there are no missed call, since I managed to answer most of the calls, sometimes there are more than 10 missed calls from different numbers. The worst is to return call and find that the caller called the wrong number.

Hello again! Well we also don't have to pay for the incoming call now. Few years before, the mobile phone users had to pay for the incoming call too. As soon as it happened that we pay only for outgoing calls, and with the introducing of prepaid system, everyone started to have the mobile phones. Within these two years only almost all of my friends got their mobiles. But the most common thing is that their balance is always mostly less that 5 Rs. For making calls, more people prefer to use the landline instead of mobile phones... We don't have that free calls on ours. Using skype cannot connect us to the friends because very few friends have subscribed the internet service at their homes. But I use online sms, whenever I have to send the message which we can send the maximum of 10 per day and it is provided by the very subscriber themselves. I get deliberate missed calls from my friends. i.e my friends rings my phone for few seconds and cut it before I do receive it and I do the same. Just to say, "Remember you." Being unable to receive the phone due to some reason is another kind of missed call, and mostly I call back these numbers. What I do is directly call the number if it is from landline but if it is from a mobile phone, then I would just missed call back and wait for call, and those can be just the deliberate missed calls as I mentioned above. Yeah it also happened to me few times, that when I call back, then they say I haven't call you at all. This is the worst thing.... Thanks for responding...Have a nice time...

But I love missed calls. I don't know why XD Whenever I see the words "1 missed call" on my phone's screen, i get goosebumps all over my body 'cos it reminds me of the creepy tune in One Missed Call movie XD I'm really scared of that tune! Haha XD

Well I hate missed call. I hate getting miss call because my friends usually give miss call to me expecting me to call them. I do not have the habit of giving miss call to cause I have planned once with my friend and ended up miss calling but she just did not notice it till I called her. SO its better to just call and if its too expensive then I will choose to text message. Thanusha

Hello thanusha45!!! I got some of the same response like you already and if you read the above posts you will see them. Not all, but few friends are telling the same thing that the missed calls expect them to call back. Yes I would also have not liked to get the missed calls, if the missed calls meant that for me here... Well I get missed calls, just showing that they remember me. And I don't need to call back, simply I response them giving the missed call back like them. Sometimes, I am the first to do that and sometimes my friends. But if I am really busy, I don't respond in any way at all. But when there is really something important to say, I telephone them or also use text message depending upon which is appropriate. And my friends too don't give missed calls indicating me to call back.... You don't need to hate this kind of missed call, do you? Thanks for your response...Have a nice time...

Hello orang13!!! Well to get more missed calls it is certain that we should also respond them. If someone keeps on miscalling me just to show that he/she remember me and if I don't give missed calls back to them, then they should stop or reduce the frequency of giving missed calls to me. yeah sometimes I also use the text to send short messages of remembrance or different things. But it is good to save money unless we really need it. Happy mylotting

Haha my friend and I used to miss call each other a lot.... when we were like 13. It sort of became a game, trying to wind the other person up by answering their call before they can hang up, but not really to say we're 'thinking of you' or something. There's the internet for things like that these days, people just write a wall post on Facebook or the like.

Hello balthier!!! Hehe...We also played that game a lot in the past days. It was some 2 years ago, when most of my friends started using the mobile phones for the first time and even me. Like you said, we used to compete with each other. The one who can receive many number of calls or the one who can give many number of safe missed calls without giving chance to receive the call wins. I used to keep my thumb at the receive button and wait for the call to come in. And sometimes, I even kept the mobile phone near the speaker, such that the speaker used to sound before the signal actually reached the mobile which made me easier to hold the missed calls attempt hehe...But we finally negotiated as our money was going on waste. And now I don't really receive the call in just one or two ring, but instead wait for some more rings to make sure that the caller is not only giving missed call, but really calling... Well, here in Nepal, many of my friends don't have the internet connection in their home. But most of them have mobile phones and that's why missed calls is so popular here. Well we also use facebook. And mostly I use the web sms that allows to send the message to the cell phone totally free of cost. Thanks for your nice response...happy mylotting...Have a nice time...

I never get as much miss calls in a day. Usually the miss calls that i get are calls from my friend or colleagues that i fail to answer. Though at times it is fiance who initiates a miss call especially if I was not able to answer his text messages to check on if my phone is turned on. That would be the instances that I would see a miss call on my phone.

Hello kenchiprincess!!! So you don't get many missed call, but you get real missed calls lol...By real missed calls I mean really missed calls due to some reason. Well I get rather than this kind of missed call, I get faked missed calls lol..., the calls that are deliberately cut by the friends after few seconds. I also do like your fiance most of the times when I send the message. Well yes, it is the just the way to check out, if your message is really read or not. And with that I get quick response from my friends.... Thanks for your response.... Happy mylotting....

No, I never like missed calls. Once I get a missed call, I tend to think that why this person is giving me a missed call? In early days, I used to call that person too! So, people made this as a habit to give me a miss call because they knew that I will call back but now I have given up that habit but still I have strictly instructed my friends to not to give me missd calls as I do't like that and I don't get many these days. How can a missed call show you love I have towards you?

Hello sanuanu!!! Well you used to missed calls with different meaning and I get missed call with different meaning. In my case, I don't have to call back for the missed calls, neither my friends will be expecting the call back from me. But they will be surely expecting the missed call back from me. This is the just the way to keep in touch, no need to actually call at all. Missed calls speak. But you are talking about the different missed call, the one that is given just in the expect of a call back. Well I don't do that. I make a call if really necessary. Well its just meant to say, " I missed you" or "I remember you." And for this why anyone has to get angry. I don't get angry, instead I get happy to get them. Mostly I get the missed calls from the same persons. Just some ring and then cut off deliberately. And also do back the same. There are about ten friends who do this for me frequently and so do I. And if I want I can increase this kind of relation with many other friends too... So I hope you understood the meaning of missed calls for me. Its just another kind of missed call than you have think and I hope you love this way and don't really hate this.... Thanks for your response....Keep mylotting...Good luck

Doing missed calls to friends to say that you remember them is quite a unique way of communication. Before there is what we call as drop call. You can talk to your friend for less than a minute for free. I say it was free because it was free of charge even if you are using an air time. I was in my fourth year in college then. So it was in the year 2002-03. It was really fun. It was the cheapest way of communicating to loved ones not near to you. Anyway, back to the discussion. I only receive missed call if I failed to answer the call. It cannot say how many times in a day. It only happens when I am busy and not able to attend to my cellphone.

Hello yonkie!!! I am glad to get your response here. Thankyou!!! I did never know about about the drop calls. In the previous response too I saw the word dropcall but thought that the dropcall and the missed call are same. Yeah I would enjoy a lot with the dropcall if we had them. So you too don't have that facility now. Wouldn't you use it at the present time too a lot like those days, if it was there...If there was such thing like dropcall here in my country, I would stay before a clock and call friends, and cut the call after each 55 seconds and then recall him/her. Hey was there some scheme applied by them that protects from this kind of act. Did you did as I mentioned... And about the missed call, I found that you recieve different kind of missed call and I recieve pretty different kind of missed call. I would like to categorize the missed calls into two parts. One is deliberately given missed calls. i.e just ringing for few second and then cut by himself. Another missed call is the one you mentioned, being unable to recieve the phone due to some reason. Well Mostly I get the deliberate missed calls, just the sign that someone is remembering me and mostly I return such missed calls... Thanks once again...And have a nice time...Enjoy

Hello, glad to giving misscalls means I rember you. Because I too get so many miscalls in my cell phone. They fall under three category, some are from known friends, relatives, they are in my list, i usually call back and talk, some are known, but i would prefer to call as cheats, they don't want to spend their money, but want you to call back, i normally don't call back Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers.
