Hello, mylotters.I am a law student.I found myself falling in a bad situation.I just cannot concentrate on my study! When I read a book,I always feel bored and tired.I can't help thinking other things such as what I will eat at lunch or when I can play my computer.I can't even realize what I have just read! Then I will go to bed hoping I can be in good condition after having a rest. But when I get up,things will just act like just before.I am going to have the final exam and I really don't know what to do about it.Asking for your help!

Is there a little bit of time for you to take a mini vacation? Or maybe a day or two where you just do nothing that has to do with studies? I think you just need a little time away from your studies to give your head a break. And when you get back you can study full force and pass all your exams.

I agree to this solution. You probably need a short vacation to make you relax and get back to the studying mood. Thanusha

You deseribed is that you can not concentrate to read? I aslo had this experience,to do so may be helpful for you, give it a try, if the conditional. 1.Don't sleep more than 12 o'clock; 2.6:30up(not lazy), drink a glass of water,to 30 minutes jogging,or other sports, and then take a bath;3.To find a quiet place to read, and maintain a good mood.

I'm just wondering if you are being careful to not ingest anything with sugar substitute in it, aspartame especially. I went through a terrible mind fog, drifty period. I couldn't hold my concentration long enough to read. A friend mentioned reading about aspartame and it's ill effects. The problem is they are hiding it in MANY products now, not just sugar free. It is even in pedialyte drinks for children. Very dangerous stuff!! But it sure can give you the symptoms your going through. And it is accumulitive, so it sneaks up on you, Been there!

there's no way of helping empressM, you just need to change. i'm a student myself and i'm doing ok with my studies. not saying that i'm getting good marks but just enough to pass it. the only way is to force yourself and just believe that 1 day all of your hardwork will benefit you in the future.

What are the usual things that will jazz you up? Concentrate on the goal or the prize if you really want this things. It helps to train your mind to think about the positive outcome of the exams if this is really your dream. I know some people who use failure as motivation but for some it just destroys their morale. Just relax, the exam won't kill you. If you can't take the pressure out of your head fear can be the worst enemy. For some people it helps to join a study group and socialize with people who likes to study this way you'll feel you need to change the attitude a little to catch up with them. Never compare your self performance to others for you should set your bar higher than that. Your greatest enemy is yourself not your colleagues. If none of this helps, just relax. I know how it feels like having a board exam.

I'm sure people have probably said this, but maybe you can a bit of a break from studying, maybe you're just concentrating too hard. :/ Or try breaking up your studying, or maybe you could try rewarding yourself or something like that, so it won't seem as boring or tiring. :]

It could be because you are not interested enough in what you are studying and should perhaps reconsider your goals. Do you have problems reading other things that don't have anything to do with studying? If you do, you may be over tired and in need of a holiday or there may be a condition there that may need to be assessed by a doctor. Good luck to you keep us posted!

You spent too much time on computer. IAD-the Internet Addiction Disease. it will make you can't concentrate on anything. and always feel uncomfortable without computer. If you haven't played computer one day, you may feel boring and anxious. Try to do some sports and communicate with other people. don't spend so much time online.

When I were a student,I were also like you for a long time. I want to give you suggetion as follows: 1. spend some time do sports like long-distance running, skipping ,swimming ect 2. Set up a small aim for a big goal. You can tell yourself,"if I pass the exam,I will reward myself to .....or if I got a good grade,I will ...." 3. Have a hobby which you can concentrate on. I think school days is a wonderfur period of life and enjoy life!

I've faced the same situation quite a few times. In such a case what I do is, I get some snacks right next to me and eat/drink as I read, trying to pay more attention to the studies than the food of course! If you're tempted to play games while you're studying, go for it! Because unless and until you've played a bit, it won't leave your mind, trust me. No matter how hard you try to concentrate on your studies, but you'll definitely keep thinking what you can do when you get on the game next, you know, such distractions. So what I suggest ( and followed myself ) was to go ahead, play a bit, remember, just a bit, not much! and then get back to my studies. Or you can offer yourself a reward, compete with yourself : "I'll finish 2 chapters in 1 hour, and I'll make sure I remember everything that I've read. If I do that successfully, I'll reward myself by playing for 30 minutes!" That can definitely help! All the best! :)

Sorry for you. This kind of situation has also happened to me when I have just entered university, it almost drove me crazy. First, you shouldnt blame youself for this situation, it is really boring to read the law books. Next ,please relax yourself a bit and do something that can make you happy.Get your mind out of the text book for a while. When you are no more anxious, try to focus on the books again. Good luck! Be confident and drop the anxiety!

Hey, do you like any kinds of sport? If you are bored, you can do some sport and you will feel better and that life is beautiful. And then you will concentrate on you study.Perhaps a good score will wait for.

I used to fall into the same situation for a while as you do,and i pulled myself back from depression with self-control ability.I think the best way to recover your patience fighting for the future is to build up interests on what you are trying to do.Divide a big plan into small goals which are to easy to get within a week and reward yourself for achieving each goal with even a small piece of chocolate or one-hour of pc-game time that you like. Day by day,you will carry out the whole plan while having fulfiled yourself.

Without more information it's hard to tell what type of problem you may have. Do you just lack focus on the reading material? Or is all reading difficult to concentrate on? For me I can't read much more than a paragraph and I'll usually even mess up a few words on that. But I can't focus on the words because the background moves and sometimes the words move off the page too. If that sounds familiar to you, you might want to check out www.irlen.com But it could easily be something else as well, like ADD, or even just not really liking the material or major you got into.

I think you will survive and pass your final exam. You were able to reach the final exam so I am sure you passed the prelim exam and midterm exam if you have one. I am confused why such bad situation now when you are already taking the final exam. Maybe there is something that is bothering you. I am a law graduate. I am right now reviewing for the bar exam. In order for me to have concentration on what I am reading, I make sure I am not hungry. I make sure I have peace of mind. I make sure I am feeling well. And I make sure I am studying in the place where it is conducive for learning.

I think what you need to do is to have a short break. You have to concentrate on what you are reading or doing and to do this I think you should stimulate yourself to be genuinely interested in what you are doing. When you are studying try to block out all those other stuff, i'm sure it will help you concentrate. Maybe doing a to-do list would help you and then stick to the schedule. In that way, you can have time for all of those stuff.
