What's your "bedtime"?

You don't have to be a kid to have a bedtime... Do you go to sleep at the same time every night? Do you stay up for the 11 o'clock news? Do you go to bed early because you have to wake up early to get to work or get the kids off to school? My bedtime is anywhere betwen 9 and 11 most nights. Occassionaly I will have trouble falling asleep and stay up a little later, but that doesn't happen much these days. A few years ago, I went through a period of time when I suffered from insomnia. I discovered chatrooms then. That, unfortunately made my insomnia worse. Fortunately, I kicked that habit and I have a much better sleep routine now. I usually wake up between 6:15 and 6:45 am.

They say it is good to keep a routine (and therefore keep a bedtime and a 'wakeup time') but I don't. When I am tired I go to sleep... whether that be in the middle of the night or the middle of the day and the same goes wor waking up. Great question. Thanks Zelo

We try to get to bed between 10 and 11 at night, but many nights we are up until after midnight. We get up pretty early too, so we try to get a decent night's rest. It doesn't always work though, especially when I lose track of time!

For the most part I go to bed between 10 and 11. I have always been an early riser getting up anywhere from 5:30 to 7-8. I can't sleep late and I cant seem to stay up very late either.

Hi miamilady, I usually go to bed at 11.00 PM and wake up by 6 am . I just loose all energy in the body as soon as clock strikes 11 and i cant even stay awake to save my life. I would yaun and if i m typing on the keyboard i would type something which even i wont be able to understand and it gets too difficult for me to stay past 11 though i should but not able to.

My average bedtime is 3:30am. Sometimes I go to bed earlier and other times a little later. a " good night sleep" for me is 4-5 hours these days. I have always been a night owl and if I went to sleep before 1am I would be up by 5am.

I got to bed at 10:00 and get up at 6:30 ish. My son is up at 6:50 to get ready for school so as long as I am up and ready by then I figure its all good. I wish I did get better sleep but I have a hard time falling a sleep so there are the nights I lay in bed and try to sleep for hours. It is one of the things I need to work on this year.

Here lately since I have been staying with my BF, I have gone to bed just after the 11:00pm news. I then get up around 10 til 4am to get him off to work and then I hit the computer for a bit and around 8 I go back to bed for a while. Most nights when I can't fall asleep, I will lay there because I don't like to roam the house by myself. My kids are all in bed by 10 and it's summertime. I figure, I love to sleep in so why not let them some days. It just depends on how busy I was during the day. Sometimes when he comes home from work, I feed him and then take a shower and go to bed.

I also have an insomnia problem and I discovered if I keep a regular bedtime I do better. Unfortunately, as a mom it doesn't always work out for me. If I can fall asleep before 11 p.m. and wake around 6-6:30 a.m. it was a good night. A lot of times that does not work cause I will wake up with back pain or just anxiety issues. Some nights I can feel that I will have a problem and I take something to help me sleep through the night. I can remember many nights getting really stressed over not being able to sleep and it becomes a pattern. If I do stay up late it screws me up for days. I do not like to sleep late and I would rather keep myself to a schedule.

I don't have a fixed bedtime, but I used to go to bed at 10pm. Sometimes I watch T.V. late night then I go to sleep at 1pm. But when I really feel tired Im knock out at 9pm.

i don't have a bed time. I just get up when I'm awake, and go to bed when I'm tired. Sometimes I keep "proper" hours, other times I'm absolutely nochturnal, and sleep all day. I am unemployed, so when I wake up and when i go to bed depends entirely on my mood, and whatever else I plan to do the next day.

I really don't have a set bedtime for myself. I just go to bed whenever I fall asleep and wake up when my alarm goes off. I am normally in bed before 11:30 or 12. There was a period of time not to long ago when I was up until 1 or 2 in the morning when I first started dating my boyfriend, but now that we see each other every day...not so much anymore LOL.

I'm bad... I don't have to get up at a specific time as there are no kids around here any more, and I no longer work. I love to watch a programme called Time Team on the TV though, which is on most mornings at 4 a.m., so I stay up until about 3.45 on here to keep me awake, then go to bed and watch that on the portable. I need to get out of the habit though because I'm missing most of the mornings and getting up around midday to lunch, instead of breakfast. The best part of the day has gone and I feel I'm missing out. So, soon, with the summer here, I shall be attempting to change my habits. Brightest Blessings.

I don't think there is a right or wrong way to live your life. Just because the "world" seems to live on a certain schedule doesn't mean we always have to conform. My father has been retired for years. He used two work the night shift. Once he retired, it seems as if he could not re-adjust to traditional hours. Even to this day, years later, he still can't sleep at night. Unfortunately, after my mother passed away, this schedule of his seems to be very hard on him. If you feel like you are missing out, though, then yes, trying to get "back on track" might be a good idea. I tend to be more of a day person, so although I would like to sleep in (and I do in the summer) I wouldn't want to feel as if I've missed most of the day. I think in the summer's, eventually I will sleep as late as 10am, but it seems teh older I get, the harder it is for me to "sleep in". I just don't seem to need as much sleep. It's actually frustrating because I love sleeping sometimes! lol Have you been away for a while?

Lol... how perceptive of you. Yes, I've been missing for a while because I've been very busy in my "waking life". I'm secretary of the local darts league and my village's team, and it's end of season, so I had a load of stats and stuff to work out, had to arrange finals night and an end of season meal for the team, together with presentations, so I had to stay out of the Internet World for a while, in order to get things done. I have a wedding cake to make ice and decorate for July as well, so there'll still be some times when I'm not around. I'm desperately trying to catch up with the past two or three weeks of discussions and there are hundreds of them! ha ha ha. Right... back to the discussion. I don't feel it's a wrong way to live my life but in the summer months especially, there's a feeling of "freshness" and "new beginnings" to the mornings. In the winter, it's not so bad because it gets light much later and is often dreary, although having said that, I do like the crisp whiteness of a morning frost, especially when the sun shines on it. I miss all that, and the summer would be a good time to turn it around, I thought. I can sympathise with your Dad, as shift work or even my routine is not an easy thing to get out of. It has to be done gradually, say by half an hour at a time, otherwise you can't sleep. I think maybe the taking of food and coffee... stimulating things... might play some part in that, as they get into our system and work our body clocks. However, I must try to start getting a glimpse of morning life again because I do feel I'm missing out... on life and nature!

I try to go up for about 11pm, but I get so easily distracted! There’s not only getting ready for bed and the plethora of pills I have to take, but I get so distracted by things like Sudoku or the book I’m reading, the light often doesn’t go out till after 1am. Not good!

Morning, my friend! Between 8 and 9 p.m., the "sandman" dumps the sleep in my eyes! I am always up by 4 a.m.! To sleep in is 5 a.m.! When my son comes home for the weekend, and we stay up "yakking" 'til mid-nite, I am totally out of cinque for the next few days! Cheers!

I try to be asleep by 11 p.m. I wake between 5:30 and 7 a.m. I run all day so I am pretty exhausted by 11. I also have had insomnia issues from time to time. I have found that if I get in bed later than 10 I get a second wind and then I will be up all night. I need to be up to get my daughter up for school and also to start my day. I don't want to sleep late even on the weekends because I find it is better to keep myself on a schedule.
