It has been a lot of saying and researches done and found out that our earth is currently being damaged bit by bit due to the destruction caused to the environment and soon it will not be suitable for living. Although this might seem still far away but if we still keeping the development and damage to the environment like this, that saying is giong to become true one day. Have you ever think of this issue? Or is that a concern for you thinking that our furure generations will be having difficulties to continue living?

Hello aikhong!!! Yes it is the truth that we can see and feel in this present world. Global warming is one of the major concern nowadays, which is surely one of the symptom of this damaging earth. Life is getting harder and harder, riskier and riskier with this. Most of the agricultural land has already turned to houses, which is reducing the earth's capacity to grow the food for the people. And if this trend continues, like you said, the future generations will face the severe problem. We can't say, for how many years, there can exist the petroleum fuels. Let's hope that the thing will be controlled to the greater extent. Major steps and awareness problems are being organized regarding these things. And the global warming is at the top nowadays. There are still many people who are too much unaware about these facts. Its very much difficult to convince every people, thought they may literally understand that the earth is damaging, but won't really go into taking the saving terms practically. I have think of this thing few times and I hope every educated people have already thought on this. It is also the fact that even there are educated people who are responsible. Someone may say, I am so small, the damage will be very little by my doing, and it sums up and finally there is not a stop to this trend. This is really the matter of concern that every one should think and apply in the daily life. Great job!!!Creating such important discussion...

nzalheart, thanks for your sharing and thanks for your compliment too! :) Yeah, do very agree with you that if everyone thinks that what he'd done to the harm of environment is small and thus keeping it up, it will be of no end to it. Creating the awareness of everyone in this issue will be of much important to help saving our lovely, but ill earth. Let's start doing it from today, from now. Go green!

I believe the environment is being destroyed due to human activities. If only some people were not so money-minded, maybe they would spare a thought for the environment and saving it, instead of harming it and the animals living in it. Pity little is being done.

Thanks for your response. Ya, animals extinction is another harm to the environment too. I've received some mails and news regarding how those people kill those animals. It's so cruel, and so pity of the littles.

this is a very good discussion. kudos to you my friend. yes, there are a lot of researchers that our planet is in danger. and that we must take precautionary actions that would save our planet. the question we usually here is that can we still save our planet? yes of course! that is not really the question we should answer right now. the question that we should ask ourselves is that are we ready and are we aware that we should start changing our lifestyle for the sake of our future generation. we must act now and must help each other to help our mother earth.

I'm not really to concerned about this issue, because the rain that is sent down helps clean up the waste and pollution that is on the earth, that is why I try not complain when their is so much rain being sent, where I live it has been raining non stop for 1 week now, and I can really see the difference it has made.

Ya, Mike is correct. The polluted stuffs and the acids are still in the cycle, although we might not seeing it with our eyes.

You know what you say is very true.. Ten years ago my family and I really were not to conserned with the environment. Well we were in that way that we chose not to liter or abuse, but didn't go out of our way to recycle, or do anything alternatively. Today however, we are very aware of the environment I've traded in my truck from a civic, my wife's car is economical, we teach our kids to recycle, compost, we buy only things that can be recyled. It's easy. Alot of people I know are doing the same thing that were not just a couple of years ago. I think it's slow but we are on our way to protectiong our environment.

At present, most developmental work is going on at the cost of Nature as well as natural resources. This has a good deal of adverse effect on our environment! So also, weather conditions as well as sustainability of development suffer a great and this cause a good deal of threat to life on Earth. The green house effect and melting of polar ice caps is one of the greatest threats for survival of life on Earth in some yeas near future! Unless we all take care of the crisis, humanity as well as other forms of life on this living planet 'Earth' will face disaster...!

Ya, can't agree better with this. Thanks for your sharing. I was wondering how many percent of the population in the world is really having the awareness and concern on this issue, as well as playing the basic role to help reducing the threats to the environment. But at least i've known that our myLotters here are all who's really care about environment.Let's go green today, everything start from us! Cheers

While I believe that we need to be responcible and take care of things I am not really all that stressed about what people say will happen in 50 years. 30 years ago environmentalist made all these wild predictions and we are not in an ice age, we still have animals, grow food, and the world it still in tact. Do what you can to take care of things, but im not going to suffer to bad for the cause. Here is an article about what was said 30 years ago. http://www.gmu.edu/departments/economics/wew/articles/08/EnvironmentalistsWildPredictions.htm

With the way our nature is behaving lately, climate change and all I don't think there would be a planet called Earth 50 years from now. Governments and non government organization groups that support many green projects to save or at least lessen the effect of global warming are very active, though I don't really think that it would do a lot to save the Earth. But it was a great act that people around the globe are united in saving the Earth. Recently, there had been an event called Earth Hour which many countries participated in. I just hope that all these acts had been done long ago when a Doctor(forgot his name)report that there is a climate change. It was in 1980's(I think) that the issue of climate changed has been raised but not took seriously. Now, that we are experiencing the effect of global warming we must act fast to save our "home". No more you or I, it should be "we" in this battle.

Yeah, so agree with you. I did do my part and participate in the Earht Hour too. :) I really hope that by those activities and events organized will get to create the awareness and sense of responsibility in public to protect this 'home'. From the movie '28 Days Later', i can roughly imagine what's going to happen to our earth if destructions to the earth contines.
