Nowadays, it's so common that almost everyone has his or her cell phone, even for some of the children. Some people even have more than one cell phone. I bring my cell phone with me most of the time each day. There's been lots of studies and scientific researches saying that radiation produced from cell phones will affect our health that we shouldn't minimise its usage and don't carry it with us all of the time. What do you think about this? Is there any concern for you on the radiation from cell phone? This applies to computer and laptop users too as it's one of the tools that has radiation and we're using it daily, including now when you're reading this in myLot,haha.

Ya, i've read that before too, i think it's true (it's about the same saying as for cell phone radiation). It's better to be safe than sorry, correct.

Thanks for your comment. :) Ya, agree with you that using hands-free is a better way and by this we won't have to worry so much of the radiation caused. So sweet of you two, though keeping in touch through cell phone. :) By the way, how about the radiation from laptop or computer screen? Is there any so called eyes-free set?(as hands-free for hand set)haha...or perhaps a raytec filter will help.

Yes, it's very common nowadays that lots of people have cellphone. I had also heard about the studies on the cellphone radiation, and even radiation from a lot of the electrical appliances we are currently using. My mother is also nagging me on the way I use my laptop (because I sometimes like to put the laptop on my legs when using it), and the radiation effect on me... I'm concerned about it, but I do not intend to really cut down on using of these devices.

Haha, i put the laptop on my legs too sometimes. Thanks for sharing your thought. I think it's still fine to continue using these tools as the radiation effect is of minor one. As long as we're not exposed to it for a prolonged period, it should be fine.

Oh, I sometimes put the laptop on my legs for a few hours... Is that considered long enough? In any way, I shall try to remember not to put the laptop on my legs. Hope I can change this habit of mine.

well i have heard about this from my relatives (since they warned me not to place my cellphone under my pillow) but i am not really informed about it haha :-) but according to what i've learned from them, you shouldn't answer a call from your cell phone when it's near to low battery as the radiation is 1000x stronger than the normal.. and my cousin said that the radiation is not really infrared, and its more of a microwave because some parts in our phones are made from it.. hah.. hope i made it clear to everyone reading my response but that is just what i've heard from my relatives.

Cecille thanks for your sharing on this. :) That's correct, i've read about that in an email forwarded by my friend. So nowadays i try not to answer phone when it's low battery and also do not put it near me or under the pillow. Although it's not really infrared (according to you)but it's still electromagnetic waves which have its effect on our health, i guess.

No. I'm not. According to governmental regulations: For a phone to pass F.C.C. certification, that phone’s maximum SAR level must be less than 1.6 W/kg (watts per kilogram). In Europe, the level is capped at 2 W/kg, while Canada allows a maximum of 1.6 W/kg. The SAR level listed in our charts represents the highest SAR level with the phone next to the ear as tested by the F.C.C. Keep in mind that it is possible for the SAR level to vary between different transmission bands and that different testing bodies can obtain different results. Also, it’s possible for results to vary between different editions of the same phone (such as a handset that’s offered by multiple carriers). Basically each phone model is tested and if too much is emitted, the phone fails and can not be produced. But you also have to look at what else is providing radiation on a day to day basis. Every electrical appliance from TVs to computers to microwaves all produce some sort of radiation. Most of the times this radiation isn't enough to cause any damage. Faulty wiring or faulty products can change these to where it's more than normal, but in most cases it's not enough to warrant conerns. Whenever they are turned on, cell phones communicate at infrequent intervals with a nearby base station even when they are not being used for a call. This is necessary to tell the system where the user is in case a call should come in. Thus, even while they are inactive, the phones are a source of (very low) radiofrequency energy exposure to the user. Hands-free kits reduce exposure to a user by removing the phone from the vicinity of the head.

Hi Mystic, thanks a lot for your sharing. It's informative and detailed enough. Hm..that means it's still fine for us to have our cell phone with us all the time. However, it'll be best to not use it too frequently and for long duration. Hands-free tool or accessories can be used together to reduce the radiation exposure. This method is good and should be used especially when answering phone while driving too.

This is actually a hoax. Did you see the video with the cellphones and the popcorn kernels? If not, they put a few cellphones on a table and some kernels of popcorn, and voila! The popcorn popped. This is what started the whole "cell phones are giving your brain cancer!" -scare. The video was a hoax, even though it was seen on the news. It was found out that the table they put the cell phones on was heated. The experiment was tried again on tv, and guess what? no popcorn. But the video wasn't nearly as popular, so people still don't know that it's not a hoax. You can look on youtube for the videos, maybe they will shed some light onto your concern.

Yes. I do care about cell phone radiation. I remember that I have read something about it that really scared me several years ago. It said that exposure to mobile phone radiation more than half an hour per day can substantially increase our chance to suffer from brain cancer. I started to use headset whenever I make a long time call since then. But I don't think that the radiation of cell phone is strong enough to affect our health when we are not making calls.
