Body wash- is it a waste of money?

I have recently been watching this segment that has been showing on my local news about products that we buy that we do not need. One of the products that they addressed was body wash. I love body wash. I buy it regularly. The news told me it was a waste of money. They may be right! The other day I bought Dove's go fresh body wash. I love the smell! It cost me 8 dollars! That is kind of expensive. The same brand, same scent of bar soap sells for $3 for a 2 pack. How does everyone else feel about this?

Body wash is a better choice for personal hygiene, whether in the bath or shower. Liquid soap is better for hand washing, too. Bar soap can pick up dirt and germs from soiled hands. Kids especially, tend to leave that white bar of soap with a certain greyness that is unattractive at best and infectious at worst. You can rinse off the soap with hot water to remove that layer, or even the dirt that gets embedded in the grooves in the soap, but aren't you just washing good soap down the drain that way? That's a waste of money, too. If you don't want to spend so much on the body wash, try the cheaper brands or try the dollar store. White Rain makes body wash that sells for 99 cents a bottle. You can get Suave for about the same. Each has moisturizing formulas and lots of fragrance choices as well. Listen, we get very few pleasures in life and one of them you oughtn't to have to give up is feeling soft and clean and fresh after your shower or bath.

I love body wash and I use it all the time. I find bar soaps to drying for my skin. Also with using coupons and coupling them with deals I usually don't pay more than $1 for a bottle and usually I can get it free. When I can get great deals like this I stock up. Right now I probably have enough body wash for about a year and I paid around $5 for all of it. When you can get it that cheap then go for it.

I dont buy body wash because it is expensive. We use bar soaps here and so far we like it. If I do see a great deal on body wash I will buy it but it has to be very cheap. I like the smells of them but for the cost it it to much for every day. Maybe someday when we dont have anymore debt I can buy more. It is definately nice to use.

body wash is always better because bar soap don't really get you clean it leaves a thin layer of film on your body , i never use bar soap and i never will the only kind of soap we use in this house is body wash or liquid because i don't want the film on me or my family also when the bar of soap goes from wet to dry and back again it has germs on it because they grow there from being wet and then drying, you can get body wash really cheap that smells great at walmart or places like it.

well, the one who wrote the script for that segment may be saying the truth in his perspective otherwise he wouldn't sound so convincing. but i don't agree. there are bars of soaps that are so expensive that for sensitive skinned people like me a body wash would be more like it. cetaphil antibacterial costs 354 php while safeguard body wash in menthol is only around 84 php.

Body wash is not a waste of money if you are not paying for it. There are lots of opportunities to use coupons and get body wash for free, especially at places like CVS and Walgreens. In fact, many people I know got free Dove body wash a few weeks ago. Go ahead and keep treating yourself! Just learn how to do it without spending the cash. You would be very surprised to learn what you can get for free using coupons. Check out We Use Coupons and A Full Cup. Both of those places have helped me to save a pile of cash while still enjoying the things I love.

I do buy body wash all the time as well. I tend to buy the kinds that are on sale or if there isnt any on sale I will go to the dollar store. I have often wondered if the liquid hand soap is the same as body wash. It is quite a bit cheaper for a larger bottle.

I love body wash and prefer it to bar soap. It is one of life's little pleasures. It is much easier to use in the shower and I think much more gentle on your skin. Dove body wash is one my favorites but I have not bought lately. The price is too high for me right now to due an unemployment situation in our household. I still get body wash at the dollar tree and you can also get body wash at Big Lots if you have one in your town and they carry Dove most of the time, and other name brands. They are usually half the price of supermarkets or less. If I do have to buy at the supermarket it is usually the situation where it is on sale for a couple bucks off and then I use a coupon on top of that to save even more. I know the bar soap is a better deal for your money but have not bought bar soap in years. Besides if you don't mind paying $8 for your body wash and you enjoy it you should splurge and enjoy it. I say if it makes you happy go for it.

I love body wash. The bar soaps are so messy. At first when my daughter was buying body wash i used to think it was expensive. But she got me using it now. I dont think it a waste anymore. For one thing you dont need a lot of it in one shower. Its not messy. It comes in all prices. All ya gotta do is watch the price. Buy on sale. I have bubble bath but not a bathtub so i use it the same as a body wash. i will not switch back.

First we need to understand that we live in a commercial world.Hygiene is an important thing and it is only natural that companies try and sell a whole lot of hygiene products to consumers.Personally I use soap while bathing. But I have also used body washes sometimes.I feel that it is entirely a matter of personal choice.I liked body wash as well but it is very pricey as compared to soap.So ultimately it depends upon your buying preferences. If you are willing to pay higher for a body wash then by all means use it.

I don't even buy bar soap anymore. I love body wash. there are so many different kinds available. I love the scents. I found that you can purchase it at walmart for a lot less and experiment with the store brands because some of them are good. I don't think that it has to cost more than bar soap. Look for sales and shop smart. I need body wash, bar soap is a nuisance and body wash is more convenient.

This is an easy answer, my friend! I don´t have the money for a body wash!. I do believe that each of us, no matter how broke he/she is, must have une luxury item in life. But I can´t have more than one. So bodywash is out, as it´s not my first priority. I definitly it is a luxury item if you can wash with a nice smelling soap for half of the price (and bars last longer too). Take care

Everyone in my family only uses body wash except my husband still prefers soap. My son, my daughter, even my 6 year old grand daughter and myself all use body wash. I think my son drinks it though. He uses so much of it. At least his body wash is only about $3.75. I would never pay $8.00 for body wash. That is just too expensive for me and my budget.

I have used body wash only a few times. Once or twice I got it as gift and at other times, I just felt like indulging myself. But I stopped before it became a habit coz obviously its way too expensive and the bar of soap is just fine for me. for the average standard bottle of body wash, I could buy three soaps of premium brand and that certainly is a lot.

I buy Body wash all the time, I love the fact there are so many varieties and brands to choose from. I don't think they are a waste of money. I don't buy really expensive brands though. I do use bar soap on my bathroom sink for washing my face and hands. Also bars of soap get wasted in the tub with all the water that gets on them in the soap dish, with body wash it is less messy and there is no soap to clean up.

Each one of us spends our time finding ways to live frugally. We clip coupons, find sales, buy at thrift shops, and do without things so that we have some money to get through the month. What we sometimes forget to do is to treat ourselves well. My down fall is Lindor Dark Chocolate Truffles. I buy one or two bags a month. I look at it this way, total abstinence from our favorite things can be harmful to our well being. It kind of brings back something my Mom would say about clean underwear... "Always wear clean underwear in case you're hit by a bus...I would always think to myself that if my underwear was clean before the bus hit me it wouldn't be clean afterwards!" Life is too short to look at something you enjoy so much and say "I can't have it because it costs too much". You will find that the body wash will go further than the bar soap. I have used Dove body wash and it is so thick and creamy that I don't have to use too much of it to get the same effect that I get from soap. With bar soap, if there is a pool of water under it the bar can get mushy and dissolve faster. Enjoy your body wash, and if you want to save money on it, go to Dove's site and see if they offer coupons. Also you can write them and compliment them on their product and ask for coupons on their product. You will find them in the mail nearly the next day!! I have done that with my favorite products and have gotten coupons for the item I complimented. Give it a try, but in the mean time if you enjoy the Dove Body Wash, buy it!!! Besides, I am sure that you don't use perfume when you use the body wash, so you're saving money big time in perfume costs.

Body wash may be a little more expensive, but I consider it a luxery item. I like it and want to use it, so there. I don't buy Dove though because it is more expensive. I buy Equate at Wal-Mart. The other people in my family use bar soap, but I'm having trouble finding less expensive brands in sensitive skin formulas.

I love body wash and actually find that it lasts longer than soap does. The soap gets all mushy in the dish and breaks apart, etc. I only buy it on sale. I would never spend 8.00 for it.

I love body wash, and (short of causing cancer) there isn;t a thing anyone can say to make me stop using it. I do choose the types that I buy carefully....some of them are really pricey! The dollar store sells a really nice cream variety, but they don't offer the wide range of scents that some of the name brands have. I like the Dial White Tea scent. It is creamy and light and has a wonderful scent to it. the best part is that it only runs me about $3 a bottle. Every now and again if I can find it on sale I will buy the Oil of Olay Quench Body wash. That stuff is so wondurfully luxurious. The lotion is pretty awesome too. So, I guess I am doomed to keep wasting my money 'caus e I love the stuff!
