Finally got released and turned in resignation.......

All in the same day! I drove from southern Virginia back to Pennsylvania for my final doctor's appointment this past Tuesday. The doctor checked my wrist and gave me full release back to work. I then drove from the doctor's office to the district office and handed in my letter of resignation, gear, and keys. I said goodbye's to those that mattered, and they didn't want me to go, but they understood. The next morning I drove back to Virginia. I crossed the Mason/Dixon line at 0945 Wednesday morning, and that is one state I'll never be going back to. Now I'll be planning my move back to Texas, most likely in the next month or two (at most). It was a very tiring trip, but Pennsylvania is now History!! and there are great things to come in the near future, moving to Texas, and the biggest..........planning my wedding for September 19th. Has anyone else had to resign from a job they loved? Is anyone else busy making big plans?

Congrats on the wedding plans coming up. I too had to quit a job that I loved. I miss it everyday too. long story short, I regret it and made the mistake of quiting. I thought I could find a job closer to home and be happy ,but I was not happy. It really matters what your work is otherwise you be unhappy even if it is closer to hom.

Thanks, the hard part is you make close friendships, the fire service is a close knit group no matter where ya go, and once you've worked with a crew, they are always a part of your life. That's whats great about my job. So before long I'll be hookin back up with the guys in Texas, and back in my home state.

Hey palonghorn! I think that is so great that things have worked out so wonderful for you and in such a small amount of time! You went from moving out on a miserable relationship to moving and starting a whole new life and getting married! I think that things couldn't have worked out any better! I know that you will be so happy and I am so happy for you! I know that you have so much to do before your wedding and you must be so excited! It is just amazing how things just seem to all fit into place for you! Just keep us posted on how things are going up to that very special day!

Thanks Opal, it has all fit into place amazingly well. But there were so many 'signs' that pointed to me and my fiance being together, we couldn't ignore it. I am very excited, and I do have tons to do lol. With getting moved to Texas, starting my new job, well same job (wildland firefighting) new state, finding a place to live, and planning a wedding............by September 20th I'll be ready for a vacation LOL. By the time I get moved to Texas I'll have about 2 1/2 months to get everything planned and done for the wedding!! lol However, we are planning on a small ceremony with just our families, and then a full blown reception with full firefighter theme. He is a structure firefighter. I'm hoping (since I have connections) to be able to have a fire engine take us from the ceremony to the reception!
