USTe.TV: Are you one of us?

USTe.TV (http://uste.tv/) stands for University of Santo Tomas Electronic Thomasian Village. It's a social networking site (kind of like Friendster or Facebook) open only to Thomasian students, faculty and alumni. It was originally set up in preparation for the Quadri-centennial celebration in 2011 but now, it also serves as an avenue for Thomasians and former-Thomasians to keep in touch with one another. I think that creating this site is definitely a big step for the University. UST has always been a bit more on the traditional side and having established such an online community (and riding the craze surrounding social networking sites) changes its image somehow.

That seems uber cool! I'm not a Thomasian but my sister is. She is already a graduate but she's coming back this school year for post grad studies. I'm also not sure if she's aware of that online community because I'm pretty sure she sticks with Facebook/Friendster in order to keep in touch with her old college friends. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Really? Maybe you should tell her. The site was actually introduced initially to former student council members of the different colleges (that's how I came about it) and we were asked to spread the word. Of course, there had been a formal launching in 2008, as per the website. I'm actually surprised only few past and even current Thomasians know of this site. You're welcome. And thanks, too, for your response in this one.

Hello there! I am an incoming 4th yr. Pharmacy student but i haven't heard anything about this. I just saw this post so i was curious what this is about. and i got surprised reading your blog. when was this announced? why was it not publicized yet, i think 90% of the Thomasian community is not aware of this. i seriously thought that this is a blog for USTv awards. LOL

Really? Well, I guess it's a site geared more towards Thomasian alumni since the sponsor of the USTe.TV project seems to be the Alumni Affairs Office. I'm surprised they aren't actively promoting the site on campus, though. It's a good site to gather alumni and current students to build social networks and connections and stuff. The Father Rector inaugurated the site/project just recently, as per news posted on the site.

Hello! I'm I have an USTe.TV account! I'm an alumnus btw, I was invited by a freshman friend through email. I invited my blockmates to join too! I find the site nice because you get to meet and interact with other Thomasians from all over the globe. :) Yes, it's like a friendster and facebook and an online forum in one.
