Have you ever tried to return an item at a store you know it wasn't purchased at? Long story short I received two toasters at my bridal shower last weekend. Only one of them was on our registry. Well the girl that got me the other toaster does not have a receipt and I known she bought it at Target. Target has a very strict return policy and will not take it back without a receipt. So tonight I'm going to try to take it to Walmart because I know they sell this brand, just not sure if they have the exact same toaster. I guess we shall see! I'm nervous but I don't know what else to do. We really don't need or have a place to store two toasters!

Walmart does take them back without a reciept...but not if they don't sell the brand....I had to return something to the store tonight...without the reciept...they let me exchange it for other things in the store which was just fine with me as I need a bunch of things anyway....good luck with your return...you are not cheating anyone!

Thank you for your response. I am pretty sure they'll take it since they sell this brand of toasters. I'm just not 100% sure if they have that exact same one. Walmart is pretty good about returns. It amazes me they still are. There are so many places out there that are SO strict. Like Target! It's pretty crappy when you receive a double gift and can't even return it.

You can't just return the one that does have a receipt? I've never tried that, but it sounds like it might work. I used to work in retail and it was crazy how people could return stuff that was broken or anything, even if it was obviously their fault. So you probably have a good chance since this is still brand new in the box.

The other toaster, with the receipt is the one we registered for and wanted. It's a lot nicer than the one I wanted to return. Doesn't matter though........we're now stuck with 2 toasters. Walmart couldn't take it back and target wouldn't either, without the receipt. Guess we're going to be making a lot of toast :-p
