I have a one-year old nephew, who is a cute fatty.he weighs much more than the same age baby,I could say, because he is about 15 kg now and weighs the same as the 5-year old son of my colleague. I worry about that, because nowadays, there are a lot a young fat teenagers with a number of health problems. Do you think it necessary to worry about this? His mother is also fat.

Yes, I do think that this is not a small matter. He is only 1 year old, and should not weigh this much. I will say do you know what's his diet. As he's now only 1 year old, there's still ways to help him to lose some weight and the fats. He will have to change his diet and "exercise" more (as in you can bring him out to the playground to play, or if he likes dancing, he could dance off some fats). I do agree that nowadays, there's too many young kids who are overweight, and most carry the fats till their teenage years, and even the adult years. These is not good for the individuals as they will most likely have a lot of health problems such as diabetics, etc... I will say that I have this problem too with my 2 kids. My son was recently called by the school to go to the health counsellor and dietician as he was 145% overweight. He now weighs 35kg... I've been trying for the past few months to change both my kids diet. We now do not give them sweet drinks (occasionally), less deep fried food, and of course more "exercising". We bring them to the playground to play for around half an hour almost everyday. I really hope that he will lose some weight before we go for the 2nd follow-up check on July... Well, back to the topic, I will say that you should be talking to his mother about your concern. I believe if she cares for her child, she will make some effort to slowly change their diet, and way of life.

He generally eats noodles, vegetables and eggs, which I think qutie healthy. He is fat I guess because he can't walk until he is over 12months old. now he can walk steadily and do a lot of exercises. I believe he will lose a lot og weight. Thank you for your suggestions.

Oh, I'm glad to hear that. Well, to shake off the weight and fats, he will have to do more exercise and moving around. I think diet wise, it should still be okay.

Yes, this could be a major problem. If the child is the average weight for their heighth there is nothing to worry about it just means the child grows fast. But if the child is in general "fat" then serious health risks come into play. The problem is discussing the issue with the parent. Most overweight parents who have overweight children don't see anything wrong with them and get offended if you were to say something about it to them.
