this is the one being sold in sm groceries. however, the presence of the pandan leaves make me think that it is supposed to be steamed. have you tasted this? the fried version of this chicken isn't so good.

I also think pandan can impart it's aroma when used that way. Frying will just make the leaves dry and I don't think steaming will have much effect too. The best way to extract pandan flavor and aroma is to boil it. If they wanted to have the pandan taste, maybe they should have marinated the chicken with pandan extracts or flavoring instead of wrapping them that way.

I mean "I also think pandan can not impart it's aroma when used that way."

thank you for the information. pandan leaves, when fried, do evoke a smell of coconut meat being extracted its oil by frying it. at least, that's what my neighbor who once smelled it said .

I agree... the fried version is not at all that good... i tried it once... so i did not bother to buy another set again... but i never thought that steaming it would make a difference... i usually steam fish... and i like that more than fried... so i think i need to try steamed chicken pandan to really know the difference... thanks for the tip...

the first time i saw the chicken pandan, i asked what it was. then i was told it was chicken in pandan. i asked how it is cooked since i know pandan's purpose is for the aroma and can only be released by steam. i was told it can be steamed also. i haven't tried it, though. i just fried them. maybe, i'd put it on top of an "iniinin" rice to see how it would fare.

I have been frying these only to find out that it tastes nothing much different from the usual, regular chicken. I haven't tried steaming it yet but it really is not that advisable for frying. I also tried putting these in an oven but the pandan leaves ended up burnt instead of giving flavor or aroma to the chicken.
