I was out today picking up my son at school... and in one subdivision I saw 4 lawn service companies. I think that might be a great work field to get into....WOW!! My hubby does our lawn, and cuts the grass I think about every other week but I was curious to how many uses services?? I would love to have some one cut our grass and give my husband a break, but the money is just way to tight right now... for the first 9 years of our marriage we lived in apartments so the lawn was never a concern for us...now that we have a house, it is our responsibility and we dont mind doing it... but I see lawn services popping up everywhere now. do you use a service, or do you cut your own lawn?

hello bookreader! well, my hubby takes care of all the lawn and outdoor things. lol we have a very large lawn, so he has a riding lawnmower that he has to use or else it would take him 2 years to mow it by hand! lol but we do have a lawn service come to fertilize our lawn, maybe once a month. i don't think we need it, but my husband says we do. what do i know? :)

Call me cheap, but I would never pay $25 to have someone mow my lawn. I can't do it myself any more because of health, but my nephew does it cheap. If it wasn't for him, I'd have to find someone else in the family or do it a little at a time myself. It would never be completely done, though! There are quite a few individuals doing lawns around here, and most of them drive big fancy trucks with low trailers and several lawn mowers. They have to be making pretty good money.

I've never used a lawn service and don't see myself starting now. I just bought this house a month or so ago and have almost an acre of land. I planned on doing it myself with a push mower but my 'friend' said we really needed to get another lawn tractor. Spent $400 on a refurbished lawn tractor that doesn't work worth a crap. Last weekend I did the whole thing with the push mower, by myself. I'd rather not rely on anyone else to do it on their schedule, I want it done on mine. Don't have the money to hire anyone anyway, so it's a moot point.

we cut our own lawn and lately it has been my husband who does it because I can never get the dang lawnmower to work. lol! I don't mind doing it but in the spring it feels like it grows so much. we also do my parents lawn and it is a pain to have to do both. raking leaves is worse though!

that is alot of work... 2 houses, and yes it does seem that when the snow is gone, the rain comes through and all of a sudden, it grows like wild and has to be done more often.... good luck with both houses!! thanks for responding and happy mylotting.

When mother was living, we used a lawn service for a while. You see, my mother, sisters, and I never did do yard work because we were protected. I always had a lot of allergies, anyway, and she told me that I wasn't expected to do anything like that. I wish now that daddy had taught me how to cut grass because I see how expensive it is to pay somebody to do it. I know a lot of women who say they love cutting their grass. However, I don't own my property any more but that's another story. My brother-in-law owns it now and he has hired a guy to come out and cut it every so often. Kathy.

I'm a stay at home mom, so I have time to mow our lawn. However my husband has to do the weed eater because it's big enough I can't do it for more than 15 minutes and my back is killing me. Since we have kids, they like to ride on our riding lawn mower when I mow. So now I have to make sure one of them is around to "help" me. Our oldest wants to mow on his own, but he's 7 and not quite big enough yet. Although when he's older I know he will be mowing other peoples lawns in town. So that will be another part time job I'll have is helping him do that I'm sure. I actually enjoy mowing because I don't have to "parent" when I'm mowing. It's kind of like a mini vacation, even if it's only for an hour and a half.

My partner and I live with my parents and my dad does all the lawn mowing around here. Call me a girly girl but I don't have the slightest clue how to even start a lawn mower. If I lived on my own I guess i'd have to hire it done. lol

the lawn often grow the vegetable. many persons has lawn and they just plant somethings to eat, never to plant grass, grass will be planted by government. and the goverment will employ persons to remain it.

We do our own lawn, and it is a never ending job. But it is one that my husband enjoys doing. It takes him a good 3 or 4 hours to cut the grass with a riding mower, and then another couple of hours to do the weed eating. and then another few hours running the tiller through the garden. It is a full days job for him, for the amount of land that we have it would probably cost a small fortune to hire a service.

yes, I agree if it takes him that long to do the lawn, then yes, it would be a fortune to hire a service.... but at least your hubby enjoys it... I think if we did that too, like had more land, hubby would really enjoy it too... right now we are in the middle of remodeling the yard so we shall see how that turns out....LOL happy mylotting and have a great day!

Ha! That's funny, because a lawn service at our house would be such a waste of money! We have woods behind our house, so no grass there, and just a small patch along the side of the house towards the front that has a mix of weeds and grass. It takes my husband less than 30 minutes to mow and edge along the driveway. Not worth it for us to have someone come do such a small job. If we have a larger yard one day, my husband or I will likely continue to mow, considering we enjoy outdoor chores. We will continue to do our own yard work until neither of us is physically capable anymore.

Cut my own. I love gardening and I consider mowing the lawn as part of it. Though I do not do it all the time since we take turns in the house, but it always someone from the house

I know lawn service companies can get expensive, so it is good that you take turns and then no one gets burnt out on it all summer... happy mylotting and have a great day!!
