My husband and I moved from FL to NC (because that is where the Army stationed him at) and since our time in Nc wasn't going to be so long, we thought it would be best for me not to work. So I am playing the role of the little housewife. Its fun at times, because I love to cook and it makes me feel good to have dinner served and a clean home when he gets in. But I have to say, not working really sucks! I am so tired of staying in all day. Maybe if I had a kid it wouldn't be so bad, because at least then I would be raising a child and spending time with them. But since that is not the case, I feel like I am wasting away here. The walls feel like they close in on me sometimes...If it wasn't for my new puppy or the internet, I would have lost it by now! You should see how excited I get when I go to the store...LOL Thank god we have less than a month here before we move back to FL for good. I am looking forward to working and getting out. What about you? Love it or hate it? Or maybe your like me, loving and hating it at the same time.

I do love it and hate it. However we do have 2 boys who keep me busy, but I'm kind of tired of being a stay at home mom for 7 yrs. I like to stay home, but not all the time. I think I stay in a better frame of mind when I'm around other people. We live in a small town and I haven't found a job here outside the home that would work for us, since my husband is gone a lot. I do have an at home job of doing call center work from our basement. I don't make a ton of money working 1-2 days per week but it takes care of a few bills and I get to do something different and my son gets to go to day care and play with other kids. I also really don't want to drive an hour just to go to work either. I have loved being home to watch the boys grow up. Do you have any hobbies you can take advantage of during your "time off"? My sister is taking a class to learn to knit and is loving it. Or do you read books? I have such a list I'd love to read, I'm just not getting through it very quickly. I hope you do keep your sanity, I know it's a hard thing to do, not working. Good luck and enjoy playing with your puppy.

I do have one hobby, I make abstract paintings and sell them on craigslist. I do love to read and will do that as well from time to time. I wanted to join a gym, but this town is not the best place for me to go to the gym without my husband. Back in FL, its not a problem, but here is it. I would love to take some painting classes when I get to fl and plan on doing so =) Thanks for your reponses simplyshawn, I enjoy them

I have been out of work for a while due to cutbacks. It is driving me crazy. I love spending time with my children, but I need to get out of the house. And I know it sounds bad, but I need to be alone. There is always someone here with me. At least when I was working, I was in the car by myself for the drive to and from work. Sometimes, a person just needs to be alone with their thoughts.

I have been a working wife and mommy. Being a wife, mom AND an employee can be really difficult. It's just a matter of prioritizing. I don't see myself NOT working because I wouldn't want to be a burden to my husband. Also, if I work, I am sure of having an income of my own.

Wow... You have spoken my life. I've been a stay at home wife now for about two years. And Honestly I love it at times and sometimes I hate it. Three years ago we moved from NY to SC. And than a year after living down here we desided to save money and insurance by keeping only one car. Since that decision I've been a stay at home wife. I figured we would ahve had children by now so it would have been fine. i want to be a stay at home mom and home school are children. But honestly I don't think that's ever gonna happen. And yes I get excited when I get to go to the store too. It's like WOOoOO HOOOOO!! Even if it's only for grocery shopping it's better than looking at the same walls in are apartment day in day out. And if it wasn't for my cat and the internet I too would be lost.
