I actually went through this when I was younger. I had tumors on my vocal cords and had to have them removed. I was not allowed to talk for nearly 2 months! It drove me crazy! But, as they say, necessity breeds invention. Of course, I had to communicate by writing everything down but I got really creative to have conversations on the phone. My friends and I communicated by me tapping on the phone once for yes and twice for no. It was hysterical! We got a lot of laughs from it but it did get tiring. I was soooooo glad when I could finally talk again!

Well, not to date myself, but back then, there wasn't text messaging or anything like that. No cell phones. How did we survive?!?!? Lol.

No! I had laryngitis once and the doctor told me "No talking!" because my voice was completely gone but I couldn't do it. My kids were still living at home...some of them were teenagers...so I found that words were coming out of my mouth...although no one could really hear them. I did try to write things down but, as far as talking with my hands, aside from some very simple gestures, I have no skills in that area.

I could, but I would have to lock myself in my office and not have much contact with anyone. I am pretty sure I could get through two days without talking, but I wouldn't be able to go to work either...LOL

Definitely not! This happened to me once when I had a serious case of sore throat plus infection which may lead to total loss of voice and I was advice not to talk for a week. Imagine! I was really devastated then because I am the type of person who would always say what's on my mind and me not allowed to talk, how will I do that? I was able to follow the doctor for the first day but second day was too hard for me that sometimes I forgot and join in the conversation. My sister was my "guardian angel" because when she notices that I talk too much, she would say "eheeerrmmm" and I immediately know I have to stop. I was not really able to follow the doctor's order but luckily, the medicine took effect and my voice went back to normal.
