Are You Working Hard, or Hardly Working?

Is your job physically or mentally hard? Or, do you sometimes feel as though it is just amazing to get paid to do as little as you do? There are so many types of jobs in the world- tell me about yours! Is it a physical type of work, or is it primarily a mental type of work, or does it combine aspects of both? For example, my job is as an online website publisher. Most days my work is mentally taxing and stressful, but for the most part it is not physically demanding. How about you? Thanks!

my job is very stressful. REALLY! honestly, it is not that hard as yours. however, the issues and the pressure is killing me. i love what i am doing but i really want to explore some things related to my course which is IT. i work hard for my family, especially for my son. right now we are in the middle of crisis so i cannot stay at home even if i am sick and tired of what i am doing here.

it's ok. thanks for your concern :) i am just doing my best as an employee and not to commit errors in what i am doing. errors are the main reason why it's so stressful. i know i'll overcome everything.

I'm a cashier. I stand in one place all day and scan products. It tends to be pretty mindless, because it's just the same thing over and over again. I get paid better than most cashiers in the area I live in, but I'd really like a job that requires a little more creativity.

I used to be a cashier a long time ago, myself. It does get to be boring at many times, since it is so repetitive. I am glad you get paid well though! Thanks for responding.

Yes, it sounds as though there is probably a good bit of physical involved in your work. Although in my experience, mental labor can sure be more taxing than physical at times.

I work in a research lab. My job isnt very physically taxing, but there is some knowledge you have to have. Right now, I am working on a set of experiments that are super easy! I think an 8 year old could do what I am doing! They wouldnt understand why or how it worked, but they could actually do the work. I also have a lot of downtime. I am always waiting for something to incubate or equilibrate. It can get very boring at times. I am not sure what I would do without the internet! At those times I do wonder how anyone can get paid for my job. But I am not complaining! I do like the paycheck!

That sounds like a very unusual job. That is one place that I have never worked! I bet the internet is a life-saver at time for you, while you are waiting. Very interesting, thank you for responding.

I can say that I am hardly working for college now that I have considered going back to school. Since its about work, I do confirm with the tasks and obligations while having another thing in mind at school. This maybe the best way for me to challenge myself in events having both school and work since I read some people's story and also as been told by these people in this type of situation. I can say its physical and mental needs at work since you have to be on the line for the work while looking for something on screen doing work.

I am working hard for my courses. I am a Mater acadidate in the college, so, the first important thing is that I must do my college tasks well. I think it needs the physical and mental powers to reach the goal.

I thought my job would be more interesting when i first started. But after a few years, i got bored. I don't really mind if the job involves some stress and mental challenged. But now i feel that my job is going nowhere. I work with the government in medical science field. As i said, it should have been interesting. But working with the government has so many limitations, i just got fed up. So now I'm doing something else on my own, waiting to be out of the system.

Well it seems the less work involved the more you seem to make. It's kind of a horrible thought but that's capitalism for ya'! Online website publisher? You mean you build websites orr uhh, what? I'm in search of a job right now, actually. I prefer the less physical labor, more mental-related. Most jobs available are kind of distancy though and not in exactly the safest of neighborhoods so it makes it a lot harder then it should be.

I'm a teacher so I work mentally and physically. Mentally because I'm teaching pupils with knowledge so I have to review the lesson, do a research work and study often to be prepared in my class. I have to prepare myself physically too because in teaching you have to be an energetic and active to motivate your students and teach them well with high energy to make the class lively too.

I'm working really hard, after a days work, it still have to do some sideline jobs for me to gain extra money, one of these sideline job is online money earning. I think all job are hard, its just how the way people tend to manage their time. Time Management is very important.. So to avoid delays and back logs at work we need to learn to manage our time well..

I work as a 3D artist so there's really not much physical work. xD It can be a problem though because you spend all day (everyday) on your computer seat so it can be hard to be in good shape. xD Yees! When I was working at a studio, I was only doing simple tasks but the salary I received from them was like O_O wow xD I felt guilty for receiving that amount of money for doing such simple things xD Right now I'm back at freelancing so it's harder work mentally, but I like it this way 'coz I know it's helping me improve my skills, even if the money I receive isn't much. :D

Sounds like you have a challenging job...Most of my life I've had sit down office jobs, mainly not stressful, clerical in nature. My latest partime job was working in a thrift store..I worked in the back pricing items, on my feet all day, and filling up the cart to stock the items. Physical, but not stressful..I loved it,loved the people, and loved talking to the customers. It also got me some exercise!!!

Hi, Right now I am a home maker and I believe that is the toughest job in the whole world. Though I work part time over the net but managing a home with a four year kind takes away most of my time. This is tough both mentally as well as physically. At times it becomes very stressful. My son is totally mama's boy. So he does not allow anyone to do anything for him. His mama has to do everything for him. So I believe that it will be a little easier for me when he grows up a little more.
