Eating through the years has put a few pounds on me and I have tried all the fad diets that are out there. Nothing I don't think anything helps though, as just good old exercising. Walking.running.swimming..those are the things that help you loose weight . Through my life I have always heard the old saying you are what you eat....Assuming this is a correct statement what type of food are you? flutterby

I am a "fruit" or a "vegetable." Now both of those sound a bit funny when I think of it lol. I am a bit fruity sometimes, and I do "veg" out at times. I agree when you say plain old-fashioned exercise is the best way to stay limber and fit! Karen

I truly understand. I have had fibromyalgia for over two decades, and my spouse was totally put off by my having to pace myself. I ended up divorcing him when he became completely abusive. I am happy that you have an understanding mate! That is a true blessing. I now have a partner who is also helpful and very undertanding. It makes such a positive difference in our lives when that is available. My best to you... Karen

Hey FlutterbyKisses, love the username by the way. I solved the diet problem for me. Well I never really did the diet thing, I just kept growing sideways. I lived with being overweight and learned to avoid mirrors that showed anything below my neck. But things changed... We were on a trip to Florida and stopped along the way to stay at really cool place about half way from New Brunswick to Florida following the east coast. Well I was sitting there in my underwear watching TV before going to sleep and my son snapped a picture of me. I had no idea I was so sensitive about my appearance and I blew up. That was a wake up call for me. When I got back home I decided it was time to lose 60 pounds and this is how I did it. I simply took the plates we used and stopped using them. I instead started using plates that were a size smaller. It only took me one year to lose the 60 pounds. The thing is that I always left the table stuffed but when I went to a smaller plate I still left the table but I wasn't hungry or stuffed and that's all it took. The eyes really play tricks on the mind and once you know that you just don't let them trick you. No need for strange diets that leave you heavier than before you started.

Thank you so much for your inspiring response..WebMann. I don't seem to have to much willpower anymore to worry about loosing weight. I am fighting the evil fibromyalgia, so most days it is a chore just to be able to walk a little bit. Sounds like you are well on your way to a more healthful future...Keep up the good work your friend....flutterby

I am a Strawberry. Sometimes I'm a Greek flavored chicken sandwich. My meds are adding weight no matter how hard I try to exercise or watch what I eat. I don't know how to lower it but would be content if it stayed steady.

Thank you so much for your response TL and strawberries are a good healthful food to be. I think meds have alot to do with putting weight on. I have fibromyalgia and somedays it is hard for me to move let alone exercise, and I believe the older we get the harder it is to take off weight becasue our metabolism slows down. I'm with you I would be happy if it just stayed steady! flutterby

I'm definitely a Hot Pocket (Croissant crust). String cheese is another food that I happen to be, as is an Uncrustable (grape or strawberry, it doesn't matter which. lol). My mom gave me an exercise DVD yesterday, and I made it through the warm-up and three minutes into the exercises. I'm so out of shape, it's not even funny. :D

Sounds like you are all for convenience....lol Well they say anything in moderation is not bad for you, so I would try and cut back a little bit and maybe build myself up on the exercise video and in no time you will be in the best shape ever. Just a little advice...They do make "Lean Pockets".....lol flutterby
