Is or Was Anyone Else Here A Fan of the Series 'Dead Like Me'?

Dead Like Me was a comedy television series that aired on Showtime from 2003 to 2004 (The show's tagline was "A Series About Life After Life"). The show followed five main characters but Dead Like Me's central character was an eighteen year old girl named Georgia Lass who everyone called George for short. Essentially, the five main characters are grim reapers. On the first episode, early in the episode while on her lunch break of her new job, a mysterious man approaches her. Asking her name, he touches her and taking her soul in the process. Moments later, a toilet seat from the MIR space station falls to earth and kills her. After that, George takes the man's place as she was his final reap. The show basically follows the characters as they do their jobs as grim reapers (of course no one knows that they are). It's kind of hard to explain, especially how great the show is (of course it goes without saying not everyone will have that opinion), unless you see it for yourself. Obviously being aired on Showtime for two years, it wasn't particularly for kids and was able to get away with a lot more than it could have, say with CBS or NBC. So is anyone here a fan of the show too? It's easily one of my top three favorite series ever and Mason is my favorite character. I really want to see that movie that was released recently that picks up several years after the end of the second season even though I've heard a lot of fans of the series say it's not as good as the series.

I used to Love this show. It was just dark enough without being creepy, and sarcastic enough without being condescending. I just thought it was a very clever take on the whole grim reaper idea. One of my favorite parts of the show is George going to work and interacting with her boss. George's lack of enthusiasm and her boss's obliviousness to it was fun to watch. I never heard there was a movie. Was it one of those done to kind of wrap things up? Did it have the same characters/actors? When did it air?

The movie was filmed back in 2007. It was originally supposed to be released last year but the movie was pushed back and released earlier this year in February. It had most of the original actors and characters. Unfortunately not all of them though. Rube and Mandy Patinkin is not in the movie. Daisy is in the movie but is played by a different actress. Kiffy, Der Waffle Hause, and George's father aren't in the movie either. Everyone else from the series is there though. I heard the reason Mandy Patinkin and Laura Harris aren't in it because at the time they made the movie they were busy with other things and were unable to reprise their roles.

That would have been about the time Mandy left Criminal Minds too. Anybody know how he's doing?

It was very good. I did not see it until Sci-Fi Channel aired it after cancellation. I especially liked the "can't fight destiny" undertone. I have not seen the movie, but I felt the show lost momentum toward the end, so I would not be surprised to be disappointed, if you know what I mean.
