Looks like Mel Gibson won't be having anything to do with the upcoming Mad Max IV movie. That's according to a news report on Yahoo (AU) You can check it out here. http://linkbee.com/madmaxmovie Mel has totally changed from the guy he was back in the 'Mad Max' days. Way too old to pull off the Mad Max character in any credible way. Who do you think would be a nice replacement for Mel Gibson in the upcoming Mad Max movie?

I think Clive Owen could pull it off pretty well. Very underrated as an actor. Or perhaps Jason Stratham(sp?), who seems to have a lot of luck with movies that combine driving and action.

I've been wracking my brains trying to think of someone and I came up with Ryan Kwanten who plays Jason Stackhouse on HBO's True Blood. I believe he's also Australian and he's certainly good looking enough. It won't seem the same with anyone else in the role, however. Annie

I would say Heath Ledger but he's no longer with us. I would have to say a thin Russell Crowe or Joel Edgerton...I just feel it should be an Aussie - that doesn't have anything to do with me being an Aussie though lol...it still won't be the same without Mel Gibson though.

Oh, Mel, ya big baby! Bruce brought back John MacLane, Harrison brought back Indy, surely he's got it in him to bring back Max. LOL No, seriously, though... someone mentioned Jason Statham, and I agree. He'd be great. Maybe the Australian kid from House, Jesse Spencer. He's only a few years older than Mel Gibson was in the first movie, he's pretty like Mel was when he was younger, he has the right kind of dry wit. I read over some articles and it doesn't sound like George Miller has anyone in mind for the role (but it also doesn't sound like he's committing to the rumors he's planning on a fourth either).

It's too bad that Mel won't be doing the new Mad Max movie. It just won't be the same. In my opinion it would be better to not make it a Mad Max but something similar since they have to use new actors. I would like to see it done in the fashion that the last Indiana Jones move was done. Indie was portrayed as being n older man so made a few goofs as he went through the adventure.

I agree that Mel Gibson is way too old to play the lead role in the upcoming Mad Max movie... but it would be nice if he can do a cameo or a bit but meaty part... I don't think that movie would ever be complete without Mel Gibson... just like Terminator without Arnold... I don't really know who can replace Mel... but i am sure they will be able to find one who will fit the part...

Hi Beautyqueen, All the actors I know and love seem to be ageing ones these days and I have been racking my brains to think of some younger guys so I am going to go for a total unown perhaps Irish actor as they are known for dark hair and blue eys which could be made to look a bit manic like Mels were, but can't name any names here at all sorry. Huggles. Ellie :D

I don't know if I've even heard of this movie. I want to say I have, but then I asked my fiance and he says he hasn't... lol not that that doesn't mean I haven't. Hmm, I wonder, what am I missing by not having seen any of the Mad Max movies? I don't like it when they replace a character from a movie or show series, but I can understand when they either don't want to or are getting to old to play the parts / do some of the stunts, etc. I don't understand everything about show biz but I know that actors get tired just like anyone else.
