Any experience like a terrorist teacher who'll openly humiliate their students. I'm not sure what they're getting from it, is that to prove that they're wiser and their students are stupid; or they just love to see people being laughed at. I have a teacher before and she called upon by classmate for a graded recitation, she failed to answer the question and the teacher suddenly screamed, "Sit down, you're so stupid, you don't study your lesson, you're parents must have been so sorry sending you to this school." That's harassment! My professor also called for me once in highschool she said its voluntary recitation, I'm not in the mood to answer the math problem so refused to solve it, but she insisted so I did, I have a perfect solution and she can't get what i did so she just assumed I copied it from someone else coz I can't elaborate further what I've solved. She's crazy I hate her for calling me a cheater when I'm a straight A student...

oh, terrible memory. I still remember those things happened to me.When I was in Grade Three in the primary school, my maths teacher hurt me so badly. At that time, I was not so good at math and got a bad result in one of the exams. Even though I was a child, I was not satified with my result. And I thought the reason why I didn't get a high mark was because my teacher didn't like me. So in the maths class after the exam, I didn't listen to her carefully and I talked with my classmates something else. She was so angry that she came to me directly and gave me a twist on my face. As a little girl, I felt ashamed to be punished by the teacher. I tried to hold my tears. :( Since then, I gave up maths, being worse and worse at math. Luckily, I met another maths teacher the next year, who was very kind and patient. And the most important is that she liked me and considered me as a clever girl. So you know, I became better and better at maths. I even got the first place in my class. See, what teachers do is really important to a student. Sometimes it will make a very big difference. So, now I myself am a teacher, I never call my students 'fool' or 'stupid' even the student is really a weak leaner. I know those names will hurt them a lot and may destroy their lives. I get on well with my students. I love my students and they bring me a lot of happiness. :)

this is a really nice story... I'm glad that you reversed everything, I love teachers like you and I really wish you touch more lives... people like you will be remembered for ages... always encourage your students coz a child at this early age are largely influenced by elders and every little effort you show them will be much appreciated.

I had experienced being humiliated in a class when i was in college. It seems different story from everybody else here. Its not because i couldn't answer a math problem or recite in a class or did stupid things but because of my 'surname'. My surname is kinda uncommon and sounds funny to somebody to who can hear it at first time. So in the class when he was checking attendance he called my name and pronounce it differently to make it sounds funny and the whole class laugh so loud at me. I got so mad and told my professor that i didn't enroll in that school to be a funny subject and how can he graduated with degree and be a teacher if he don't know how to read. Its not funny so i fought him back. Its not my fault or choice to have my surname

Me too, they often get my surname wrong... From first grade to college nobody even pronounced it right... the spelling is so simple all they have to do is to read it right... lol...

Thanks for sharing yours. Now i know, im not alone, heheheh. Whenever it flashes back in my mind it made me smile. I dont feel bad about it anymore. What i see is the positive result after that big fight with my teacher, i studied hard to prove to him that im smart (he threaten me to fail in his subject) and above all i've been known in school! hahahaha! i walked around the campus and some students says 'hi' and say my surname though i dont know them

Oh...Jesus! I don't want to think about that. Men teachers are very nice and women teachers are horrible, especially Math teachers. I had a tought time. I think may lady teachers get a happy feeling by torturing their students. I was not a concentrating student in school or college, but I used to go home and study. So, I passed all my courses with good marks. One lady teacher in my college was angry with me for using make up and wearing shawl in a different fashion. According to her shawls should be weared only in one fashion so that it will cover boobs properly. She was angry with me for using sandal in forehead because it is not the custom of my religion. These are personal things and that is not the business of a teacher. I think she was jealous that I was young and pretty, changes to new fashions, uses make up and she an old women. Thank god!I passed the course with good grade.

She's crazy! It's completely none of her business. Thank God, during college its alot easier for me. My gay friends even where girl clothes and they don't receive discrimination from professors. I'm glad they really care about education and not about how their students look... I hate it when teachers take things overboard...

yes, this has been my style too... I prove him wrong... its good if all students can handle criticisms this way but for some its too destructive that they tend to give up...

When I was in graduate school, there was a history professor who was known for intimidating students. Many students had anxiety issues and their nerves would even cause them to throw up before class each day. It was horrible. He loved to humiliate people for being wrong in class. He also loved to set-up debates that became personal to create rifts between students. I dropped that class before midterms. It was not worth the stress!

wow, your teacher can set up debates regarding history... the subject covers the past, even how long it takes for all the students to debate, it won't change anything coz its already in the past...lol

Teachers are like that. But there are exceptionals. In my class I have a lady teacher, who was much like the 'terrorist'.She gave us math's homework.I did it and as usaual she was not able to follow it, started humiliating me as usaual. She started off like this,"what is this?,why don't you pay attention to the class? If you don't pay attention,I will have to kneel down you in front of the class".Just imagine, the incident took place while I was in class VII.

Yes I have its horrible! The first time was in the 2nd grade. My teacher didnt like my "messy desk" and in front of the whole class dumped all my content on the ground and made me clean it up. I have ADD (didnt know it at the time though) the quieter kind so I was always the dreamer but my teacher had something in for me. Later that year she claimed I didnt write a report my mom did because the writing was more neater then I normally wrote (I just tried harder!). My second time was in the 8th grade. We were visiting a class and the teacher there didnt like my baseball hat on my head. I wasnt sleeping but they thought I was. The guest speaker thought I was. I stopped drawing on my hand and pulled up my hat but the teacher thought it wasnt pulled up enough and made me take it off so they could see I wasnt sleeping or doing anything but paying attention. Very lame. I cried when I got out of class and as adviced by my friend I never wore that hat to school again. Teachers like those two SUCK and its really hurtful and hurt my self esteem badly!! :((

i remembered i got humiliated before when i made a pee. it was really embarrassing. i think i was still a grader that time. i didn't experience being humiliated in school or been a victim of emotional harassment by teachers. you should report teachers like that. they're gonna degrade one's reputation. teachers are not even allowed to shout at anyone.

My friend felt a flying chair hitting her back when his professor got really angry coz no one cleaned the room that day... Its awful... I'm sad though coz even if you report this kind of stuff in high school or in elementary, the teacher only gets suspended for a week and return teaching... people like those don't even deserve to teach coz they'll just bring trauma to children at a very early age...

Not even once. But once I took the punishment given to me by my Physics teacher. I misplaced a vernier calipers and i was asked by him to replace it. I still remembered that i cried for some time and did what was expected of me later.

Wow. All the stories here are really bad. The teachers should get fired from their jobs for being so nasty. I havnt personaly had any expericance with any kind of teacher described here but I was humilated at school once when I was in loo. I was on the loo and a bunch of boys kicked the door in, exposing me to everyone in the toilets. I didn't go to school for a few days after that incident. It is not only teachers that can be like this, it is also youth team leaders, people who run youth clubs for kids and peoples with learning difficulties, special needs. A few weeks ago I witnessed an incident where a person with some kind of autism was being had a go at by the team leader. She was really making the person feel tiny as she was saying in a really nasty tone stuff like ''do you want me to dumb it down a little?'' ''Do you want me to say it in simpler terms? Do you understand?'' I just felt really sorry for the poor person and I hope the team leader gets whats coming to them for what they did.

Just keep the good work. Sometimes people tend to remember your bad deeds than the good ones. Remember you will not stay in school forever so just let it pass.

i think you maybe misunderstand your teacher sometimes,as a teacher, his purpose is very simple,he just wants the students to learn something from the class, just because of this reason,he will have to come up with various kinds of methods. however, his methods will backfire!it can be proved by your topic.of course,i can't deny that some teacher unsatisfactory, but most of the teacher is good in class. not a teacher will deliberately to make his students humiliated in the class.i hope you can believe me and change your view on teacher.

I'm not against a teacher in general, my two sisters are teachers but they're not like that, they know their manners. Its good if you're one of those good teachers. But you can't deny the fact that there are people who never learned their manners. There are alot of constructive techniques to teach, if you know your lessons its enough that you deliver it the way you're expected and not go to class unprepared. But to tell your students how stupid they are is wrong... coz that means that it only shows how terrible he is in teaching... What can you say about a professor who makes stuff fly in the air and just let his student gets hit by one of them just because he is angry? Of course, I have good teachers and those that I love... Isn't it a good feeling when you're loved by your students? You'll definitely realize how much you matter to them when they come back filled with joy and gratitude that you came into their lives. It isn't pleasant that you get remembered being a rude teacher who hurts his students and destroyed their dreams and their morale. Children at the very young age deserves good teachers coz that's where they develop their early attitude about life.

Good thing you did, I can't imagine what he could have done... at least his plan never succeeded... I hate exercise courses too, and you get graded for it, when you really don't need to be so good on it... all grades are subjective, why do schools have to measure who good you do push-ups... there are people who really can't do them... and you fail for not being good at them. Sometimes its frustrating... I also have to push myself hard to maintain my scholarship, and guess what my lowest subject is, Physical Education...
