No work at office today…good for me!

The boss is on tour and people are generally taking it easy. It’s the mid of the week, a new government has come to the helm of India, LTTE chief has ‘supposedly’ died, IPL is at an exciting stage…so much to discuss. The canteen, specially the coffee vending machine is full chock a block. Not much work is being done anywhere but for me, the day just seems to be dragging away. I am not a very chattering person, the occasional hmm and OK are all for me…SO, I have taken this wonderfully god-gifted opportunity to be here at mylot! Do you ever feel absolutely bored at office? What do you do then, give me some ideas really, I cant mylot all 8hrs! do you go out window shopping or leave early for the day?

Ahh, I wish I was in place of you. Be 100% sure that I would have been doing 8 hour mylot for that day. As I have done it for 8 hours at home when I was using 24 hour unlimited internet. Well, then it is not me but you. Aren't you at your office, then how can you do window shopping? Are you allowed to go outside your office even in your office hours?

Oh think about your eyes...whatever you earn at mylot will go to the docand then where do you find so many interesting discussions to participate in? Regarding window shopping, yes we can go out for sometime in office hours, say half an hour or one hour...we used to do that in our previous office often, maybe that's why the management has now shifted the office to a place where there are no interesting shops

I can't avoid working on pc for eight hours, even if I don't do mylot because my profile is a s/w programmer, so, even if I like it or not, I would have to work on pc. I can understand why they shifted office! Should I call you an adult brat?

i see your having a great day just hanging out in your office. . well we dont have computers at work cause we only teach some students. but i have ideas that could help you when you're bored in your office.Go to postsecret.com ... that is a great blog site where people post their deepest secrets to a blogger named frank. you'll be surprised at the secrets you will read there. Or you can check the tons of other blogs out there that are meant to amuse you.. also, you can check yahoo games for their flash games or you can go to orisinal.com. they also have a lot of time consuming games.you can also check facebook out and find some friends. you can also watch videos in youtube, i'll give you some recommendations if you want. from, http://kcatwoman.blogspot.com

Thnx for the suggestions. Yes I go to yahoo games often and there are some really cool puzzles there. I am also checking out postsecret site, I found it good. Youtube is not much of a choice coz running a video and enjoying it is not much feasible at office.

You are so lucky Riya in having a cabin of your own…I have no such facilities, its only those partitioned desks for us. But by now, I am feeling so sleepy …2 to 4 pm is really the worst part of the day…I think all offices should give a nap-time of half an hour.

Sudipta! It is said that - "when the cat is away, mouse play". It appears that same is happening in your office. I wish that I should have your boss's email ID and I could send the link of this post to your boss saying - Sir, Look, when you are not there, how people enjoy themseleves, indulging in all sundry activities, other than some real and surreal work (Please do not get angry or take it seriously, I was just kidding........!!!) You see it is said 'Work is worship' and I believe in this principle. I love to have lots and lots of work and wish that I should remain 'busy' in my office. However, when I am done with my work (I cannot create work on my own, I am not in a position, I mean) I talk to friends and relatives on phone or just go to a friend's sections/Departments to chat with him and if that is not possible, mylot is always there to share my views with dear friends like you. I do not feel like leaving early or go window shopping, it is too hot and humid in Delhi, at this time of the year that one does not feel like going outside AC office, before evening.

DEEPAK…I’ll strangle you for this But seriously, I like work too. As I said, I cant mylot continuously for 8hrs (I don’t think anybody can) and neither do I like chatting aimlessly…so work is the only thing that relieves me of boredom. But now that I have no work (nobody seems to have any), I am feeling so bored and down. Our office was previously in the midst of a shopping centre so if we had any free time, the ladies would go out and I would accompany them. But no such luck here in this new place. I cant sleep either (as Riya suggested)…you know people, someone might just say “oh Sudipta, she is always sleeping when boss is not here!”

SUDIPTAHonestly speaking, I wanted to read this kind of comment from you after my response - "DEEPAK…I’ll strangle you for this" I know it very well that you are very devoted and sincere worker and you love work and you have rightly said that no one can do mylotting for continously 8 hours, I also cannot do it, even if I am given an opportunity. I can understand that sometimes, when there is no work and you do not feel like sleeping or chatting with someone, it gets difficult to 'pass' time. Your comments tells me that now your office has shifted to such a place, where even 'window shopping' is not feasible.
