My husband has claimed "Solarian" status for more than 35 years...that was a great guess but the actual author that one would reference here is Norman Spinrad;) (1966)

Howdy! Actually, I prefer snail racing myself, although I have been known to bet heavily on the occasional amoeba race. As far as my personal racial characteristics go, I'm mostly human at the moment.
