Hi! (I'm from the Philippines, just in case someone gets lost in the discussion and start answering in the wrong context - this IS the Philippines Interest group). Me and a few friends plan to go on a three days-two nights trip somewhere in the Philippines. Distance is not a problem, the farther, and the more interesting, the better. Target month for the trip is on August. What places would you suggest and what activities/where to stay/or probably a link to someone who blogged about their trip would be really nice :D Where I personally DO NOT want to go (because I've been there) are: Boracay Palawan Cebu Bohol I need all the input you can give me! Thanks!

hi oyen, if you want to visit mindanao like cagayan and camiguin, you can also take a look at Dakak beach resort in Dipolog City. they have an airport there and transport is very accesible there. you can also see dapitan city where Jose Rizal is and the place is nearer to dumaguete and you can catch ferry to cross over.

If we only had three days (first day is us coming into Cagayan de Oro and third day is when we leave) - what schedule of trips would you suggest? Is there anything nice to see in Dapitan? We're not really historical buffs or anything and unless it's a tourist spot that we can appreciate, I think simply "being in Rizal's birth place" isn't enough thrill :D

Yes, Dakak is definitely another vacation spot here in Mindanao... and if ever you decide to go there...you must check out Aliguay island. It is one less known, yet very beautiful, small white sand islands here. A "must" check out too...

Try to visit Dumaguete. I have been there a couple of times. It is in the island of Negros. The food is fantastic. The place is historical. Dr. Jose Rizal described the city as The city of Gentle People. There is a night life, You will find some fine restaurants. They speak Visayan dialect. There are water falls for hot summer. It is adjacent to the island of Siquijor and Cebu.

Sounds more wonderful than how my friends described it haha they went to Dumaguete and stayed in a hotel by the beach - they couldn't go into the sea, not even on the shore because it was rocky and not meant for swimming (translate: VERY DANGEROUS WITH JAGGED ROCK FORMATIONS lol). I wonder why didn't tour the historical sites or the falls... Those would have been the places I would go to if I were there :) Based on that list... I think 3 days would be too long for a Dumaguete trip. What do you think? Or is there more?

Baguio would be a nice place to go to... there are a lot things and places to see there... and from there... you can go to Sagada and the Strawberry farm... i love the latter... since i actually experienced picking the those big strawberries... and most of the veggies are quite cheap... i have been to Baguio many times... and i never get tired of that place... i guess it's mainly because of the cold climate...

I'm sorry I forgot to exclude Baguio, Pangasinan, Subic from the list. I'm generally from the North so these are places that we actually frequent :)

Try to visit Siquijor some are afraid of this place because they believe that the people their perform "kulam". It is a misconception I watched it on TV the place is developed and there are many beaches there. The view is spectacular and never been exploited.

Aside from the Pearl Farm and Philippine Eagle sanctuary, what else is there in Davao for tourists? If we were to go to Cagayan de Oro... the previous suggestions to go to Camiguin instead seems more appealing :D Any other way you can convince me to pick Davao over Camiguin?
