Do you turn on your cell phone 24 / 7?

I read some articles about how maintain a cell phone. It said that it will be better if you turn off your cell phone once in while, because machine just like human beings, they need some rest from time to time. It will be last longer in time. I don't remember that I ever turn off my cell phone since I bought it. I just keep it on charge if the battery is low. And one more thing, if you turn off your cell while it was charging, it will be better and expedite the charging process. Do you also turn on your cell 24/7?

Usually I keep my cell phone on all the time, when I go to bed or the times when I want to sleep without disturbance I switch off the phone, but at the same time I can see the missed calls and messages and respond to that when I am awake. I switch of my phone whenever I am very angery or very sad. At that time I don't want anybody to contact me. I won't be normal during that period. So, I don't know how will I respond.

I only keep it on for emergencies, and most of the time it is turned off. So if I do have to keep it on, it will be in the evenings and on the weekends, since most of the time I can get at a home phone or if I am in a motel, the motel phone. Besides keeping it on all the time will waste electricity and we cannot afford to do that.

I turn on my cell-phone every day, but every evening I turn it off. I like my own space during the evenings, so all phones are turned off except for my private land-line just in case there is a family emergency. If I am asleep, I have an answer-machine that callers can use in an emergency. My view is that if they do not speak into the machine, then it is not that important. - Derek

Yes I do turn on my mobile phone 24/7. I use my mobile phone as my alarm clock every morning. Also I turn it on all the time so that if ever there will emergencies in the middle of the night, my loved ones will be able to contact me. I am just really thankful that until now, my mobile phones are still working. God bless!

I actually have two cell phones one which is personal and the other given to me by my workplace. My personal phone which I use to keep in touch with close family and friends from text and calls and the other is used during work hours. I keep my work phone on during work time and it is usually switched off when I am not at work. My personal phone is almost always on and I even keep it on at nights because I use my phone as an alarm to wake me up in the mornings. It comes in really handy for that one feature and I usually keep it on for the entire day and charge it at night.

clorissa123, The cellphone that I am having allows me to preset its switching on and off times. So, I can be assured that the phone will be ready for use when I want it and switches off when I am calling it a day. However, I cannot speak for everyone here as this is really dependent on ones occupation and requirement. Some people just cannot afford to switch off their cellphones due to the nature of their work i.e. police officer, doctor and some specialized vocations. Phone batteries today are much more durable and requires less charging time. So, I have a self timer adapter that is preset with 2 hours of operation to charge my cellphone when the need arises. FYI, this is the minimum required by my cellphone and may differ with other makes and models. I think energy conserving can begin with small deeds like maintaining energy consumption of our cellphones. It does not require a lot from us to exercise such deeds and it is just another way of being environmentally friendly and responsible. Cheers.

I have my cellphone on 24/7, yes. I just keep recharging it. But after a while it flips and and becomes weird, then I turn it off for a couple of hours and it's all back to normal. My cell has quite good battery time so I never bother to turn it off, really. I guess it would be a little bit better if I turned it off during the nights, maybe I'll start doing that. I didn't know that about it charging better while turned off. But my cellphone has quite a low charge-time anyway.

I keep my phone on 24/7. It seems like as soon as I cut it off, I miss very important calls. I keep it charged up all throughout the day

When i began to use the cell phone,i turned it off in night. But now,the habbit has already changed,i always forgot to turn it off. In fact,to turn it off or not can refect everyone's life style and so on.May be i can change my bad habbit that not to turn off my cell phone to change my lifestyle, such as go to bed earlier.

I never turn my cell phone off. I haven't seen any harm from leaving in on 24/7 and I have been on the same contract for 10 years. I upgrade my phones every 2-3 years and usually give my phones away to friends or family because they are still good. I have gotten annoyed at family members who only turn their phones on when they are using them because if I need to talk to them I can't, I can't even leave them a message when their phone is off.

I also never turn off my cell phone. It is one connection to the outside world. I need to be able to receive phone calls and text messages as well as my alarm. I think that stand-by mode is enough rest for the cell phone, don't you?

I never turn off my cell phone at all but most of the time my phone will run out of battery. Does it count like turn it off too? lolz. and another thing, my phone has automatic switch off if I dont active within 15 seconds, does it count as it turn off too? lolz if not, then I will need to turn it off sometimes or something.

Yes I keep my phone on all the time too! I guess most of us do. But it makes sense that the phone would benefit from being turned off once in a while. After all, it's the same with computers isn't it? I do know that phones charge quicker when they are switched off because compared to when they are on and charging they are not using any energy.

I had a problem a few months ago and I was not receiving any sms messages or they were being delayed. So I called the provider with which I have my contract, and she told me 'Do you switch your phone?' I said 'No, it's a mobile phone and it's there so that you can be reached anytime, right?' She said yes, but it also works with batteries, which means that you would need to switch it off for it to perform well.' I was shocked... like I leave it on all the time. i didn't start switching it off from that day on, because I also use it as an alarm in the morning, but now you are reminding me and I will try to switch it off on weekends... if I remember!

Yes, i am agree with your opinion here. I am not argue about that.. my cellphone turn off every day at 23pm to 5am. I mean everyday. I am not pass to turn off every day since i have this cellphone. So it is not bother at all. Its because, i have an application that can turn off my cell phone automatically at what time exactly. But i must turn on manually day by day with an alarm. Since i never forget to turn on my cellphone again. happy mylotting.. Ps: the recent cellphone technology have 'auto cut off' electricity. If our battery have full condition after charging, no problem if we forgot to unplug it. No worry.

It is always recommended to switch off your mobile hand set once in a while as it significantly enhances the life of the mobile set. It is a machine and it requires rest. It is a common observation that if you make calls while charging you mobile set it becomes hot, so its better to do one task at one time on you mobile set. Mobile technology is improving day by day and lots of these issues are being resolved in latest hand sets but its better not to take any chance. One more thing which i want to add is that we should charge our handset while it is switched off when we are in a country where electricity power cuts are common. there are reliable reports that some people who put there mobile sets on charging while they were switched on, lost there mobiles and hardly avoided injury as there mobiles exploded suddenly when the electricity was restored after power cut. Sudden high voltage is deadly for electric equipments. Its you who knows your mobile and surroundings you are living in. So better be vigilant.
