Dear My Mylottors, When we are tired of our work, travel somewhere else seems to be a good idea and good way to recharge ourselves and relax ourselves. Having a vacation means you can have some days that total free, but will you worry about your work if your project are on a sticking point? Or will you worry about you forget to tell your co-workers some important notes? Or will you just not worry at all and enjoy your holidays? I think i am more kinda enjoying the holiday and forget about work. But it's easier say than done. I still have to pick up the phone if something urgent happen and need my help! lol Waht about you?

I like travelling for a vacation to relax and unwind. I don't want to think of work or anything that may spoil my vacation. I may answer some calls but not really from work. There are times that I don't use my cellphone during my vacation so that I don't have to worry about my work. I also don't check emails when I am on a vacation.

Vacation should be vacation. Leave the work behind. Unless, of course, if you didn't intend to and still accepted responsibilities to bring with you to your vacation destination. I, too, am a workaholic and my tendency is to bring my work everywhere I go so I don't get to enjoy solitude. But, I am learning consistently to separate my personal enjoyment from work. Work, I now can live behind so I can have some fun.

Hi Sharksfin, I think you are right. We should work hard and play hard!

when i'm on holiday the first thing i tell to my collegues is "do not call me on the phone. i will not answer you". i need to forget the work and all the problems relatives to it, otherwise i cannot enjoy it and relax myself! i obviously leave all the info and the instructions on how to handle the pending files! something like a procedure! until now, i was lucky! no problems at all!

Hi Pinggi68. You are lucky that you have no one call you when you are in a vacation. I don't have that luck. I was off the office just for half a day, i got 3 phone calls from my office. My blood pressure arise when i saw the number come from my office!

When I go on a holiday, I make sure that all my work tasks are done before I leave. That way, I get to really enjoy my vacation and not worry about any work. I guess it's also a good thing that my job doesn't require me to bring work outside the workplace and we have strict deadlines, too. But in general, I would prefer no disturbances during my vacation because that's my "me" time.

Dear Moodchild, I am sure no one likes surprise from work when they are in holdidays!

Yup, sometimes. That's why I try to arrange my holidays/vacations such that they are during a low season, or when I've completed a project. In the past, I used to bring along my computer, and log into my emails everyday. I stop doing that; it's so silly. Now I make sure that my projects are all completed; and I would leave details and instructions with my colleagues so that they can follow up. I would also inform my customers that I'm on vacation, and whom to contact in my absence. Moreover I found that they can wait until I come back to the office!

Hi Lazeebee, I think choosing the holdiday in a long seasons sounds a smart idea. Have someone as your backup is a great idea too!
