I think people are allowed to do it.

There are many a times when you open your email and find from mylot telling you that you have a pvt. message and when you open email, you usually get a link. i used to get annoyed by all this but then i thought hey nearly everyone ( not excluding me) is here to collect pennies or rewards so if someone is trying to earn it or gets happy by sending me links whats harm i can always delete it. But since this is money making site so i think i am ok with it that some one adds me only to send links. What do you think of it?

I agree there is no harm in it and in fact can sometimes lead to better things for us. Unfortunately this is spamming activity and I hate spam. Friends should be treated with respect. They should be askec first whether they are interested in xyz money venture/earning program. If the answer is yes only then we send the link. I had one request on another site and the person was courteous. I informed this person I could not be active but there was a referral contest going on. I signed up because of the manner I was approached. This person won third place. Anyone sending me a referral link in the first PM would probably be disappointed. all the best, rosdimy

I am not accusing you of anything because I understood your discussion, hence the first part of my first sentence in my first response. I was only giving my general viewpoint on the issue.

I can appreciate people are trying to make money and promote their sites etc. but what really annoys me is receiving a friends request and upon approving it receiving referral links! I agree with ANTIQUELADY it is somewhat tacky and I don't believe it is what this group is about, I realise that we get paid for posting but it is a discussion group after all, not a marketing tool. Having said all that I don't get overly upset about it unless it is obvious that the person befriended me just so he or she could spam me! I know you are aware of the rules agrim and this doesn't concern you but in my opinion if anyone is interested in referrals they should start a discussion in the money making section and ask people to PM them for the link while remembering NOT TO POST THE LINK ON THE DISCUSSION!

hi Paula, Thanks for the response and i always look forward to your responses. well u know i never post links in pm. I dont think there is one person here on mylot or anywhere who would say this unless he/she is very close to me. Yes no one likes to be used and if someone gave me a friends request only to send me links then i wont like it either. i send friends request to anyone who has responded to my discussion as a sign of thanks or if i really like someone's discussion. and yes we shouldnt post link in discussions nor we should reply to those because they would be deleted.

It happened to me once but I ddnt really mind, I was not interested so I just deleted it. We are not allowed to post links in discussions so I guess people are trying to find ways to invite others to join them in other sites. As long as they do it like daily, which can be really irritating, I guess its ok.

thanks sid for the response and i too ignore them. many a times if it is new site i read that too, so if i see a nice site, no harm in giving the guy who sent u link, a new referral.

I do not see anything wrong with it.I agree with you we are are all here making pennies. We all want to earn money. There is no harm in sending or receiving emails with a link to a money making site or opportunity. If you are not interested, then just delete it,like you said.

hi dfollin, Thx for replying to my discussion. Yes we do have a delete button in case we dont like it and if someone is getting a mental happiness by sending links to me i dont mind then and in process i might get on to a real nice site.

I don't think there is any harm in it myself. If I don't like what they emailed me I just delete it. There are some things that I have been interested in also.

Hi. I too don't mind these things any more. I think I am accustomed of all kinds of spam messages by now. In case of mylot, we always know that we will be having that kind of messages form other mylotters. Though they don't displease me that much but still it take time to delete them.

Hi coolmailraj, Thanks for the response and i understand what you are trying to say. i am used to them too and i didnt like on my email first but then i got them and i would raise my BP for no reason and then i joined mylot because of something like this mail only. Now i chk them if i dont know the site. if i find interesting , i let a very close friend of mine to be his referral and then she can refer me on that site. i am ok with it.

Hi agrim! I don't mind if someone wants to send me a link to help make money, but it is my choice if I want to add someone as a friend and I don't want to add someone as a friend just for that reason! And I definitely don't want to add anyone as a friend who is looking to for me to be a referral! And I have said this many times! If someone wants me to add them as a friend for that reason only then please don't bother asking me for a friend's request because I am not interested!

hi Opal, Thanks for the response and yes it is 100% up to you and i would definitely like that there should be someway where the man who is sending you add request can let you know that this add request is for sending links:) but i dont like it too when i got added for links only but if someone who is on my list and sends me once in a fortnight it is acceptable.

Yes i completely agree with you. Now there is some bond created between us. ther are people of who never respond to our discussion but send link in mail. it relly annoying for me. They just consider adding someone as friend to earn. There should be setting to block this type of mail. Mylot administrator "are you listening"

I don't mind getting emails from mylot telling me that I have a private message from one of the mylotters. I guess it's probably the only way I would know that I got the message. Like you said, we're all here to make money, anyway. I don't have any problem with it. Happy mylotting. Kathy.

You're talking about sending links with the emails. Right now, I don't mind those because I'm interested in making more money. It might get to the point where I might get tired of them after while and I'll probably just ignore them. Kathy.

Yes, please tell her. I need something to help me supplement my SSI check. Right now, my family is helping me but they're not going to help me forever. I would like to be able to work from home and as long as it's legitimate, it's fine with me. I wouldn't mind working for the public like I used to do, but my lawyer has advised against it and I don't want it to affect my check in any way. Kathy.

I think that if you add me as a friend, you have liked something about my discussion and you want to discuss further or maybe you find something interesting in my profile (maybe my blog), or just to be friends, it's fine. If, on the other hand, you add me to send a link. NO THANKS and I will reply to you showing my anger and my disappointment towards that! It happened with someone and this person told me that it's a favor for me! A favor my foot!! Send me something interesting and not a link! Especially not a link to be a referral, it's unfair. Then if, honestly, I happen to be already on that site? I contact people for things I want to know on my lot or to thanks them for giving me a best response.

hi cbhomework, Thanks for the response and yes i hate too when someone only adds me for the links. But i tend ot ignore it and i as a rule would not send you even 1 link unless we have talked about it. As far as i know , u hardly get any referral if you spam because no one likes it and they join the site minus referral. I add here everyone who has responded to my discussions as a mark of thanks to them and i also add them if i like someones discussions or responses where i find him/her to be more intelligent than me.

I too get pisses off mainly coz I am not really interested in all those money making sites…most people PM me with links only coz they want me as a referral but its not their fault actually, we are not allowed to posts referrals openly on mylot discussions so PM is the only way left. I either ignore such PMs or reply back in the negative.
