What is your name?

Everybody has a name right, but not everybody has a good name, there are names that make you laugh only by hearing it. Actually I'm not asking about your name, that is just a title. What i want to know is, how do you feel with your name. Are you comfort with the name given by your parents? Is your childhood name still the same until now or you have change it. Is that a "meaning" inside your name?

My name is Mark Augustine, my nick name is austin and im very happy for that. When i was a child i used to be called Mark but when i entered high school my classmates got to like my second name "Augustine". They called me Augustine first and later on they started to call me Austin. Austin as short for Augustine....They called me Austin because at that time "Austin Powers" the movie got boomed. They said that I was like Austin Powers in terms of his aura for women whoaa!!!! Well that must be a joke hehehe... Have a nice day...

Austin stand for Augustine, that's a nice simple nickname you have. I have a story too about my old friend called Austin Power, it is not his name made him called Austin but his face, his move, his teeth (no offense to anyone.. peace!), everything just like Austin Power, unfortunately his aura is different, his aura just six feet under Austin Power, heheh. He is a funny one, and become a joke at my college.

my english name is shirley ,my foreign teacher give me the name ,i like it ,i know its meanings later---coming from grassland or forest ,as i grow up in the countryside ,the beautiful secenry of my hometown endow me free personality and strong yearning of freedom ,nature .i think it's a good name that symbolizes my character.but sometimes i thinks if i need to change it as i think it maybe too common ,too female ,because i am a girl so ambitious that i like to be different , unique .i like names mean strength ,knowledge ,great things .such as Amos (is Amos a boy name ?).once i want to use the name of guardian spirit of gemini-hermes, another time i thought Artemis ,i can't decide whether "shirley" should be changed . while i like my chinese name very much ,i really want to show you my chinese writing "???(yixingyue )".?(yi)means move ,?(xin)is star ,?(yue)is moon ,my parent give me the name ,hoping that i can become a great person strong enough to move the star and moon ,haha ....,it's a very beautiful chinese name ,it makes like almost everything relates to star and moon , such the moon and star shape necklace ,the animation figure with the symbol of star or moon in their names or body .and maybe you want to know which day i was born ,yeah ,i was born in full moon day of lunar calendar .i often stare at the starry sky and the sanctity moon since i was a child. the name seems have the magic gives me the belief and strength to carry on when i was upset.i am grateful to my parents for giving such a good name to me ,and i will keep it forever. may you be happy ,Ferdi .

From the last thing I heard, Amos is a female name, it's sounds nice too but I don't really know what "Amos" mean. May be before you pick that name it's better for you to search the real meaning of that name. About your Chinese name, yes it is a very "blinking" name you had. With all of star and moon, sure it can make you a very special girl, and I also like the meaning "a person moving star & moon" it sounds like a Goddess, may be stronger than Hermes or Artemis :)

Hello, good morning, selamat pagi Surabaya, I intent to post in Indonesian language but I was blame as negative post by other people from other country when I posted in Indonesia Language to people from Bali ...yes to me or to almost Indonesia or eastern culture name has it own meaning, even it can be as our parent's wants and prayer. My family name is mudjihardjo means that we pray for joy and prosperity but I have my christian name which was used since I was at my college and at my office, justinus, because when I applied for job they asked me to write my full name so that I wrote my christian name (first name) also, and I dont know why later, at my office my boss usually call me with my first name and also my friends. Even someday when my brother called me via phone call from other city, asked for my family name, no one knew hahaha then later my brother questioning at me, where are you working actually ? They told there was not "my family name" at this office !!! thanks for your interesting topic that I cant still send my new post.

Yeah you probably blamed if you speak, I mean write in another language in myLot. Because this is a global social community, so we must speak in a language that other people understand. Anyway, in Indonesian country people usually called by their first name as you know already. So, when first time you work on an office, your boss knew your name by your curriculum vitae, automatically he'll call you Justinus if that's your first name. When people call you by your first name, it's like some friendly aura come out, and mostly because Indonesian culture is warm & friendly, so people prefer calling others by their first name, not her last / family name.

Yes of course, I'm not hiding my name, but I think it is way safer when we just use nickname in cyber world today. Just by a name, cyber criminal can track everything about us if they want. But I trusted myLot and members who loyal with this site. Okay, my name is Ferdian, and my last name is Prihatnanto. Of course people around call me by my first name, but not complete first name they took, usually they just call me Ferdi.

Why your grand mother suggest your mother not using Candy as your name? I don't think it is a bad name, when someone called Candy, my imagination always interpret that girl as a sweet & cute one, even not every "candy" is sweet. Anyway Tammy surely a nice common name. Italy, now that an easily remember name you give to your daughter. I wonder you gave that name because you often imagine to go to Italy, want it so badly and then your daughter born, so you gave Italy as the name. Just joking :)

Heheh, may be they "accidentally" hearing you gave your son's name Italy, because it's sounds nice they copycat it as their son's name. But, city or country based people name is not a new thing, there are lots of name like Paris, Spain, Venice, etc. Surely easy to remember name especially when it is based on a beautiful city such as Italy.

my name is camille. but my nickname is millie. though people say camille is a beautiful and unique name, and i do like it, i feel more myself when people know me as millie. i went to a private school and i was known as millie. i hated that school so very much, so now when people call me millie i feel like im back there and i have to act a certain way "millie" has been through so much and has learnt from her experiences. "millie" is strong, fiery and has dreams and opinions camille makes me feel like im quiet and people are judging me thats how i feel about the meanings beside my namres :)

There is no need to be a perfect one on myLot, just throw your idea or everything on your mind into a posting that should be fine, as long as other could understand you. Sorry if I ask, where country do you live? I'm not checking your profile yet, so I think it will be one practical move to just ask this out straight to you. From your name it sounds nice, I guess it is not US kind of name, nor oriental name. Is that right? correct me if I'm wrong.

My name is Jennine Ardelle (Clark) Donier, I was born Jeannine Ardelle Clark, I go married thus the last name Donier only when I married it was spelled Deonier, in 1993 my husband and one of our 3 sons and I changed the spelling of the name Deonier which had been angelizied at immigration customs when my husband's ancestor came to America from Switzerland. He was French and the name was spelled Donier with two dots called oomilots over the o it should have been spelled Doenier but some wonzle put the e before the o instead of after. Creating for generations difficulty in pronuncniation of the name. So in 1993 we had it changed back to the original spelling of my husband's ancestor. At that time I also took the A out of my name Jeannine because everyone who read the name would call me JEANNEE When it is JENEENE Or Jeninne not JEANNIE I kept the middle name spelling though I am not particularly fond of it. The meaning of my name is Jennine (Hebrew) Blessed by God, Ardelle (Anglosaxon) Jaunty or full of Joy and maiden name Clark (English) Scribe which means writer, Deonier/Donier French, meaning Dreamer from the house of Diamonds. So my full name means, Blessed of God, full of Joy a Scribe/writer and Dreamer from the house of Diamonds. Not bad for a full name meaning.

Wow, that's a deep one. Your parents surely a thinker giving such a meaningfull name. If I were you I will be proud to have such name. I think name can be such trouble when you move to another country with different speech like in your case, French speech very different with English speech, if we don't write it on paper, people usually spell it wrong way.

I'm sorry, what do you mean a good name? I don't really understand India culture so I'm asking it to you. Is there two kind of name there, child name & good name? It is interesting to learn about foreign culture. Just simple thing like name could make a very interesting subject to learn. By the way, sure you have unique name. I like sounds of "Narendra" it is indeed sounds like a God's name.

I have never changed my name.It is short and simple name and it is easy to be forgotten, I think. When I was a student,my teachers was usd to forget my name. When they asked me question, they could not speak out my name. I think maybe it is not some special things in my name to be remembered. My name's meaning is happiness. My parents want me enjoy life and be happy all the time. What is real happiness? Now I think real happiness is to content with what you have now. Thanks god forever.

Is it a very hard spelled name? I can't give sure opinion coz I dunno your real name. Is it the same one as your username here "yoyozhou" ? If that so I think it's not a hard spelled name you have there. May be your teacher just confused because there are so many students in your school, of course teacher can't remember all student's name.

I may say I have a good feeling about my name as it was. And I don not have any trouble about it as I have come to be known as my name. That might be the only property I can carry that one ca never grab it away from me as to had a great respect and reputation, and due respect to all those who also have names.

Name is one of your property, surely an intangible property it is. Not only just a "trade mark" of ourselves, name is more important when people went to the world of entertainment. We can see it for our own eyes, many artist changing their names just because they need to be different from others, they want it unique and glamorous.

to be honest i don't like my name. in fact, when i was still a teenager, the thought of hiring a good lawyer to help me change my name came to my mind. but of course, a teenager can't afford that. i am also aware that my parents would get hurt if i do that but i really really don't like my name and i'm very vocal about it. i envy those who have pretty and unique names.

You're different than the others, mostly people like their name or some of them just don't give a damn care what people think about their name. But one thing for sure, you must become who you are, if you don't like your name you could change it, but first time you must consult or at least talk about it with your parents, may be they have something special hidden on that name. You may be don't understand, but I think your parents sure know a lot about your name and what makes them pick that name for you.

Made my name a bit arbitraily, when parents give me time to check the name of onle because they like a star, resulying in re-name is from my uncle .However ,only a momentary rise of my uncle .is not well thought out,so I made a lot of similar names and that many of the same name . However ,the name a little bit like the unexpected.Later I used the internet to their ohter name ,but I like this name .Because it has brought me many friends ,my friends called my name to this network ,we feel very cordial and also very happy playing ,I feel that not of the names ,but sometimes the names of extraordinary singificance.

Hmm... May be I can't give any related comment, sorry because I don't really get your point. In general, I think every parents try their best giving their child a good name, not just pick something out of nowhere and put it to a paper. Every name has meaning, even if the words itself meaningless, but for the person who has, it is definitely important.
