Please read this discussion thoroughly before responding. I do not mean any harm and any confrontation in this discussion and hope that I do not offend anyone. If you were not baptized when you were young, did you get baptized before you were married or after you were married? Would you do this to confirm your love for christ, and your knowledge that he died for our sins? Would you, did you, have your own children baptized and if not, why not? Was the thought of being baptized in front of people a scary one? If you were baptized at a young age, did you understand, atleast in a child's knowledge, why you were doing it? Were you baptized and are not as confirmed a christian as you once were? I wasn't baptized and now I am thinking about getting baptized. I know that when my fiance and I have children I want to be baptized and active in church. To attend the church that my fiance and I are going to be married at, we must first be baptized if we weren't already. My fiance was to our knowledge, but I wasn't. I'm kind of scared. I'm still learning about Christ, but I know that I am a christian.

This is a really good discussion baby, and I think that there are many different ways to look at baptism, and that you are likely to get a lot of responses from people with different views on baptism, I bet you'll even get some responses from people who aren't Christian but were baptized young and that there family is christian, and I'll be you'll even get some responses from people who are Christian and have been baptized, and baptized their children,or are planning to baptize their children, like we will when we have children, and as you know I was baptized when I was young because my family has always been very christian, and I know that while your family is Christian they never forced you to go to church, and I know that you did go to church, sometimes with family, sometimes with friends and that you've even gone to a catholic church before, and you've gone to a spiritual church before, I know that while I did go to church when I was younger I do go to church anymore and that we are both working on becoming closer to god, and be good Christians and raise our future children as christians,I love you with all of my heart and soul, have a great day, good luck with all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

Heyya Cowgirl! First of all let me start by saying that reaponse number one was the sweetest thing. I think you guys are going to have a very bright and happy future together. Secondly..I was raised southern baptist and my uncle was a preacher. Baptism means different things to different people but in my understanding it symbolizes rebirth. In my opinion..I think it should be a personal choice as to when we are baptized but there are a lot of people that take comfort in having their children baptized. I am not active in a church now. Long story..but I think it's great that you have found a place in which you feel like you belong. Take care.

He's a real sweetheart! That's what I understood baptism to mean as well! Oh and don't worry, I know that sometimes there are reasons for people to leave church, sometimes for sad reasons involving the church. I hope your having a wonderful day!

Hi, Well i feel that baptism is certainly not a sure shot way to become a christian.....if you go by the catholic church then it is a holy sacrament and is given to the child when he/she is 40 days old.......so certainly they wont know what is happening with them.......but their parents are responsible to make them understand what its significance is and what it stands for....... If you see in the bible there is one instance where Jesus is baptized by john the baptist.....it simply means being born with god and in unity with his spirit......but more than that is important that you lead a proper christian life......teach you kids about Jesus and his teachings........pray to him everyday......i suggest you to read the bible more as it will enhance your knowledge about Christianity......you can also go for the study bible.....they are more in depth with special notes and explanation along side for most of the passages..... And any person who loves Jesus and his teachings and follows his commands is a christian......so you definitely fall into this category !!!! Praise god.......have a nice day !!!!

I do believe that I am a christian but to attend the church we may attend I'd have to be baptized, of course this is per the website. It may have changed with recent changes to the church. We do study the bible from time to time but are very relaxed when it comes to that. I know we should study more and we will! I appreciate your response. Have a Blessed day.

hey there!!want to share my opinion..I was baptized when I was young(when we are catholic). But I submit myself to another baptism when i became a "BAPTIST".Because, as what the Bible tell us that baptism if for people who accept Christ in their lives...In our doctrine of salvation...Baptism is the first step of obedience...which is burying ur old nature and resurrect wit Christ having this new "you"...Hope ur not confused..!...Well,as what you have said earlier that you are scared..Dont be,remember this:it is for the Lord why are doing this, its not for men! Hope you understand my point..i am still 19 you know..!
