We've all hear of New Years Resolutions. Most of us probably make (and break) New Years Resolutions every year. But, do you make Summer Resolutions as well? I do. My year isn't so much from Jan-December as it is From Sept-June and June - Aug. I have two school aged children, so my "year" revolves around them being in school or out of school. When they go BACK to school. I set certain goals for myself...Organize the house while their in school...go back to school myself...get a part time job this year...etc. Then summer comes and it's. Clean up the clutter that built up during the school year. Think up cheap ways to entertain the kids. Try to find a work at home job... Take the kids to the beach once a week. Take them to a movie once a week (if we can afford it). Try to figure out how to teach them to GET ALONG WITH EACHOTHER this year! Take my dad to the eye doctor for a new pair of glasses. Do you have any Summer Resolutions for this year?

I always feel a lot more cheerful in the summer! I think if people made resolutions in say June, they would be more likely to stick to them. For example, if you made a resolution to lose weight, you are more likely to go out on long walks in the summer, therefor more likely to succed. Rather than in the winter when its cold dark mornings that just make you feel all depressed before youve even got out of bed! I never have had a summer resolution, but it sounds like a really good idea! Id never really thought of it before, good topic =)

I do not do formal resolutions... But you did inspire me, completely in "on a tangent" "complete non sequitur" kind of way so I have to thank you for that. As a student of psychology, you've reminded me of the importance of looking at connections between goals, activities, and roles. Thanks for that! DR...

nope I do not really have any summer resolutions other than to find a new place to live. I need a new place to live badly.

Yes, I guess I make commitments all year. I tend to see projects I need to carry out and of course there are the general chores that I am not to "put off until tomorrow". - Derek

I like the idea of summer resolutions. I think mine will be pay off more of my student loans (more than my monthly payment, that is), exercise more (by learning new dances!), and to fix up the apartment. I've already started on the last resolution by sanding down and restaining some tables in my apartment--they REALLY needed it!

That is pretty interesting. My summer resolutions have already been broken. By this time I was hoping to have a car and be on the way to a job but that did not work out so I am still stuck. Oh well.

I never liked resolutions because I never fulfill them so I have done away with resolutions whether made in summer or the New Year. I just do what needs to be done and don't bother too much with the resolution stuff. Today I wrote a little script which made my internet efforts a breeze and it was great. No resolutions, just action. Cheers!!

I do make resolutions but I do make goals. Goals are basically a list of things that I want to accomplish. By writing them down, it gives them weight and makes it happen, but with no specific time frame. That always worked for me.

Not eating yellow snow! To become a good guy in my life by serving other people, animals and planting trees is great to do. For the better future.
