I think swimming is interesting and helpful,so I am learning it.Can you swim then or do you have any plan to learn it? Have a nice day!

I've learnt swimming a long time ago it was fun and a good exersice too for keeping your body in shape. In the begining even i was afraid of fighting with water later i learnt that i shouldn,t be fighting but flowing with it. i hope even you will loose your fear and find it easy one day.... HAPPY SWIMMING....

I dont want to say whether I can swim or not but to be honest, i am not a confident swimmer. When I was young, we lived near the beach. And there was once instant that I felt I drowned of which I was not. I was somehow struggling to catch some rocks as the water was heavy. After that incident, my confidence is swimming became less and less. we rented a house with swimming pool and it didnt help too as I am seldom in the water. happy mylotting!

I can swim a little. No one really taught me how, so I don't know if I'm doing the proper way of swimming. I just know that I can move in water without drowning.

I know how to swim and love to swim but I dont get many occasions to swim. All of our children were taught to swim when younger and we will be teaching our 2 year old how to swim this year if we can get to the beach, which Im hoping we will.

I love to swim and be in the water. I especially like to snorkel in the ocean and see all the fish and sea life. I find the water very calming. I can understand how you would feel nervous around water it you can't swim. Good job taking lessons now, so many people think they are too old to learn but that isn't true. Happy swimming!

Hi hxstar, I'm almost 30 and I can't swim! I'm hydrophobic which means I have a massive fear of huge bodies of water. I can shower and take a bath with no problems but that's just as far as it goes.. I can't even put the end of my toe in a swimming pool or I'll have a fit But good luck with your lessons and I hope it pays off in the end..

I am not calling you out or calling your stupid or anything but I learned how to swim when I was 4 years old. Yes this is in fact very young, and it is not uncommon even if some adults can't swim! I don't judge people by their abilities as I have a lot of friends who can not swim, or do not have a certain ability. Swimming I think is very easy, but you may find it difficult. But sometimes when I am in a boat without a life jacket I feel kind of erratic because I feel I will be helpless in the water when I am in shock from actually falling out. But I have gone tubing and wakeboarding before.

Nope, I cannot swim. I took classes in high school and I was still unable to learn. I think it is impossible for me to learn to swim. It makes sense because I do not really like water anyways, like the beach and such. I like living away from the coasts. I do not feel nervous going into the water i just do not go in too deep.My girlfriend cannot swim either so i guess we are both going to stay out of the water!

I learnt it when i was 7 or 8 years old.It was easy for me to learn it because there was a swimming pool near my house and it was cheap. My father taught me to swim. But what a pity,my swim skill is not good now beacuse i have few chance to swim now.I think if you want to swim well, the most important thing you can do is to swim as possible as you can.As a proverb goes that exerce makes perfect.

I love swimming. It is refreshing and a good work out. It may be the only exercise that you actually don't sweat and you feel cool at the same time. Plus, it works everypart of your body. I wish I could do more often but keep it up. I am sure everything will be fine and you will wonder why you didn't learn earlier.

My parents made me and my siblings learn how to swim when we were really little. We had a boat growing up and my parents wanted us to learn how to not freak out godforbid we fell off the boat. All three of us ended up swimming on the swim teams all throughout high school. But on the other hand, my boyfriend is 30 and he can swim but he is definitely not comfortable around deep water. When we go to the beach he doesn't go deep he goes where he can keep at least his head above the water. When we are at the pool I can get him to go in the deep end but he doesn't like it. He didn't grow up around the water like I did. But when we have kids, I will want them to learn how to swim as early as possible. I want them comfortable around water and to be able to keep themselves afloat if they fall in until someone can come and save them.

I learned to swim as a kid so it wasn't too bad. But i do remember learning and you weren't lying it was pretty darn tough when your first learnin all the moves and strokes. Good luck it will really help in the long run. Think about when you have kids and want to swim with them.

Yeah, i can swim and swimming is the sports activity i like the most. I started to learn swimming when i was very young. At that time i do not considered i'm learning swimming as i do not really know what's happening and just playing water there, haha. The period when i started to learn swimming seriously is when i was in secondary school. It was actually due to the influence of my best friend. He can swim well and i wished i could be like him so i started to attend swimming class every weekend. Swimming is actually not very hard to learn. The more important thing in swmming is that we have to have the correct skills and practise more. I only took about few months time to learn the basics of swimming, and the rest of the time was used for training and mastering the skills so that i can swim better. Swimming is a very good exercise which can help us to improve our stamina as well as it helps some sort in growing higher (i'm not very sure of this as i haven't read any studies regarding this). However, i seldom swim nowadays due to the place i'm currently staying do not have any swimming facilities. Lastly, hope you can learn up swimming soon and you'll surely enjoy it.

I've been able to swim snce I was a baby. Since your nervous about open water the best thing to do is to practice in an area where you can either stand up or hold onto something if you need to. I'd just take it slow until your comfortable and then take baby steps in shallow beach water to conquer your fears.

Well, age is not a bar to learn things.I know i cannot swim, but even then i jump into the pool & splash water all over trying to push myself forward making awkward strokes. I just keep on trying hard but no matter what, i just end up moving only a yard or two.I think i have aqua phobia and i feel really terrible having a fun time in the beaches playing in the water. One reason to blame for that would be the movies. I never had someone to teach me how to swim and this hasn't crossed my mind like other sports since my childhood. Swimming helps one to maintain a perfect streamlined body structure and is a very good workout for summer.

I can swim but never swam in the ocean before. Do not really like swimming except for in a pool. Not a big fan of swimming in lakes.
