Eating with your hands?

Have you tried eating a meal with your bare hands? In the Philippines, when the meal is so good, people tend to eat with their bare hands to enjoy their meal.

I'm from the Philippines too! I often use the spoon and fork, but in some occasions, I also use my hands to eat. It's more enjoyable to eat with your hands if the meal is composed of a rice, grilled pork or sea foods and we dipped it in soy sauce or fish paste with calamansi or calamondin.

I tried eating with my hands when I was just a kid back in the Philippines but I didn't know how. The foods just spread out all over my palm. LOL Eating with hands are being critized in Taiwan. I've lived there and when I was first learning how to use chopsticks I went "it's so hard to use chopsticks"! A guy responded "In the Philippines you all use hands there for eating...even after you came back from the restroom?" and then he laughed. I was so offended I turned him down when he asked me out. Stupid! How the hell do they still use chopsticks when having a bowl of soup?? I'm sure the early people on earth only used their hands when they had their first meal on the table. It's just common sense and to carry that out to this day is not strange to me. And washing hands before meal is another common sense. Some people are just ignorant or chose to be one!

I am from India and we usually eat with our hands. That way we can feel our food. And our hands are uniquely made for us and it can't be used by others. So,it is really hygienic. Only in some restaurants,I use to eat with a spoon or knife and fork.otherwise,I depend always on my hands.Cheers!

Yeaahh..of course. Here in Indonesia, many people were still eating with their bare hands, especially those who still live in villages. I do agree that some food are better to eat with using only hands..I just get the feeling that the food tastes better, lol

I know how, but I have not done it in such a long time. I think the last time I did it, I was a Senior in High School, during my Immersion because the place where I stayed did not have utensils in their home and they eat on Banana Leaves.

We tend to use forks to eat most of our food in the US, with the exception of some foods that are considered to be acceptable to eat with the hands. One time, I worked at a summer camp, and we had various contests for the kids during the camp week. One of the contests was to see who could eat a meal with their hands and leave their place setting cleanest. The meal was a casserole with turkey, vegetables, stuffing, and gravy. It was accompanied with cranberry sauce.
