Should women try to get pregnant despite challenges?

We have heard about the health risks associated with getting pregnant too young or too old. It is also wise to try to start a family when you have some degree of financial security especially these days. There are also health related issues that can prevent pregnancy like Fibroids, Polycystic Ovaries and endometriosis to name a few. Have any of you defied warnings or heard of stories of those who have gotten pregnant despite biological, medical and financial difficulties and how did they deal with it. I think we need to look at all of the issues and get all the facts straight before we make a decision about having a child.

I do not think that anyone has the right to tell you when you can or can not have a child, this is a personal decision that should be made between adults and no one else should be involved in it. I underwent infertility treatments, it was a risk, but a risk I was willing to take. I had three healthy beautiful children and yes we can provide for them.

I think people should be very cautious & aware of their environment and any condition they have that would possibly affect the unborn baby's health. I don't think that people with communicable diseases, and people "too young" or "too old" shouldn't be able to have kids - but if there are health risks - why not adopt? (Considering how many homeless children are out there) Or why not look into other options? It's saddening to think that people who KNOW about their ailments (that could be passed down to their children) ignore the risks & get pregnant anyway - when there are so many other legit ways of "having" kids these days.

Adoption is definately a possibility because there are millions of kids out there who pray for someone to love and take care of them. Trying to get pregnant when you know you have a communicable disease is just wrong. However there are some people who have problems getting pregnant but never give up until they have a healthy child whom they love and take care of. That my friend is a blessing indeed! Take care.
