How much money do you spend for a baby shower gift? I know sometimes it depends on how much money you're making but for example, I spent $20 and bought a blanket that was for a cousin's wife I didn't even like. For one of my good friends, I bought a bunch of baby rattles and toys that were cutsie for under $10. I personally liked the fact that I bought a lot for under $10 as a gift and I thought they were precious. The blanket was okay but not something I felt was personal. So how much do you spend and do you give personal gifts or will anything do?

I haven't been around anyone having a baby in a long time. But, what I'll tell you what I used to do. I would by this little baby pillows that looked like a birth certificate for around $3, the cost wasn't much, but everyone seemed to just love it. Then I would buy a pack of onesies, because it seems like everyone can use as many of those as they can get. I think all in all, it's the thought that counts. Have a great day!

That's a really cute idea. I think I know what you mean about the pillows. They had a place where you write baby information on the pillow. I think that's a cute idea.

I can not remember the last time I had the need to purchase a baby shower gift. I am usually on a budget when these things come up so I spend as little as possible. There are so many gift giving occasions that arise it is very easy to go broke!

Isn't that the truth! There is always an occassion to give a gift. I think it's planned so you have to buy a gift once a month if not more for birthdays, baby showers, wedding shouwers, hostess gift, all kinds of things.

I really hate when people come to you at work to collect for a group gift! I once had a temp assignment where I was expected to contribute to the monthly birthday cake for the person who I didn't even know!

It depends really on what I'd see in the market, but for sure I wouldn't spend $10 for someone else's child unless he/she is my nephew or niece. But if they're not related to me, I'd just buy something for the sake of buying one. I know it's pretty selfish, but who cares.

I really base the price like you on whether or not they are related to me and how much I care for the person. I just grabbed something for the cousin's wife not really caring how much it was because I didn't respect her. I know that was wrong but I felt so sorry for that unborn child.
