For some they are sour and for others they are viewed as a superfood! Healthy and a great way to diet Did you also know that grapefruits actually help break down the fat inside our bodies? I was very interested to learn this as I love eating grapefruits. I actually eat them like you would an orange, peel them and break off the segments and eat them raw! I do try to have one grapefruit a day, I guess too many would be too acidic on your stomach, I do hope that it's true that if you eat a grapefruit it will break down the fat and it may help to lose the stubborn fat around my middle along with the gym training that is! So how often do you eat grapefruits? Or do you eat any other food which is great in helping to break down the fat in our body? It is important to find foods rather than chemicals and tablets to enable our body to break down the fat much quicker So if you know anything that you eat that can break down fat fast then I would love to hear about it so I keep the grapefruits company LOL!

I live in Florida where you would think we would have plenty of this fruit but, like the oranges, the grapefruits we buy in our supermarkets are from California. For the life of me I have never understood why. I do like the grapefruit but have been advised to not eat them often, something to do with my diabetes and my medication. At one time the grapefruit diet was tooted to be the best way to lose weight and stay healthy. Some people still follow that diet. Here is a list of "Fat Burning Foods" Asparagus, Beets, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots Celery, Cucumber, Garlic, Horseradish, Lettuce Onions, Radishes, Tomatoes, Apple Cider Vinegar Sounds like a great salad to me.

I wonder if they export all the Florida grapefruits to the UK! Because that is the ones we have in our supermarket. I can understand the acid affecting medication so you do have to watch them. Nice list of fat burning foods, surprised at some of them, cucumber and carrots??? WOW! Radishes, yum! Wow, what a list, thank you kindly!

Hi Bro!I eat 3 grapefruits per day, 1 with breakfast, 1 with lunch and 1 with dinner. Grapefruit is the best fruit in the world containing the most digestive enzymes. What these enzymes do is break down the fat cells so that the lipids within these fat cells leak out therefore reducing the size of the fat cell giving one the semblance of losing weight....you are losing weight. May people may not look to see what their bowel movement looks like but if you want to know if you're losing fat and not muscle tissue, look for the oily film floating in the toilet water when you have that bowel movement. Eventually, you don't see this much since most of your fat cells will have been "drained", leaving only the nucleus and the membrane. Many people also don't realize that we all have the same amount of fat cells now as we did once we reached puberty. The amount of lipids within each cell determines your 'size' now. Being the grapefruit is the one fruit in the world with the highest content of digestive enzymes, eat it! Like Brian says, peel it, break segments and enjoy like you would an orange....PLEASE DO NOT ADD SUGAR!The secret to making these enzymes work at their best... 1) Peel your grapefruit 2) Segment the grapefruit 3) In your plate, separate in half 4) Eat the first half of segments 5) Immediately follow with your meal, beit breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks 6) Upon completion of the meal or snack, immediately eat the second half of your grapefruit. 7) Do not drink any fluids 1 hour prior or after each meal. (only a little sip if absolutely necessary) Repeat this process everytime you are hungry. IT WORKS! I LOST 44LBS IN EXACTLY 2 MONTHS

Hi sis! Yes you endorsed this to me, it's wonderful how a mere fruit can do more than all those on the counter tablets, pills, medicines etc which cost a fortune and don't always work. Trouble is I can't eat half a grapefruit I have to eat all of it! I guess you have to be careful how many you eat because of the acid! I wish I had found out about this wonderful fruit much earlier and it's a great way of eating away at those stubborn fat cells! 44lbs is a wonderful achievement. Double Wolfie hugs for you xxx

Barf!!! Never!!! Anyway, i cant now even if i wanted to (and i dont). Citrus causes heart burn. I have a real problem with that. I used to get limes or lemons and make real ade but then found out it was causing my heart burn. Sad because i really miss my real homemade limeade and lemonade. On the rocks.

Hi there wolfie34! Good day to you! I love grapefruits! Back then, I usually drink grapefruit every morning because it really helps break fats and also it helps eliminate those phlegm in your throat! I usually mix grapefruit with honey and drink it before singing. It helps alot! Also, grapefruit's taste is very nice but the thing is, it is very expensive here in my country so sometimes I just use calamansi for eliminating phlegm. So there, grapfruit is nice but it is expensive. :)

A lot of people have said that grapefruits are expensive, fortunately they are cheaply bought in my country so I can buy loads of them without spending a fortune.

I really love grapefruit but I don't eat them regularly. When I have the choice to, though, I do enjoy getting grapefruit JUICe as a close second option. It's so yummy!

When I was growing up, I use to see my father eating grapefruits everyday - he mentioned to me that it's very good for lowering cholestral levels in the body. I usually eat atleast one grapefruit a day...I prefer the ones that are red on the inside. I eat them exactly the way you do - by peeling them and breakign them into segments, although sometimes it taste good when you cut it in half and add a bit of sugar - it's a great breakfast. I try to eat lots of fruits and veggies in a day - but you have to be carefuly to steer clear from the ones that are very sweet - good example is Watermelon. I love watermelon - that's why I was very disappointed to hear that they have tons of calories and sugar.....

That is a good point which I forgot to mention, thank you for raising it, yes grapefruit also helps to lower cholesterole. I don't like to add sugar on fruit, I must be strange as I can only eat strawberries on their own and no sugar, cream or anything with them, yuk!

Hi wolfie. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I don't eat grapefruits. I never cared for it as it is too sour for my liking. I know it's a good health food, I just can't stand eating it. I did try it again a few months ago after years of avoiding it, for my youngest sons sake. My husband, the booger that he can be LOL, tricked me into eating it because we were trying to convince our son that it is tasty. I have to tell you though, it was hard for me to keep a straight face! I'd much rather eat other fruits, like strawberries, oranges, mangoes, cantaloupe, etc, than eat grapefruits. I don't care how much sugar is put on it either. It doesn't help.

I don't eat grapefruit often and I am one of those who find it sour and sometimes I do eat it with salt, but not in the morning. I like grapefruit juice and I drink half glass every morning. I read the number 5 response and I will buy some grapefruits and eat some everyday and hopefully I'll lost some weight, but I think I have to get rid of the salt, lol! I think adding some fresh chili or cayenne peppers in our food will also help burn some fats inside our body!

I like citrus fruits but getting the grapefruit is really difficult over here as it is costly, though oranges are available in plenty, so I took may be very long time back almost two years passed since I had the grape fruit.

We are fortunate in that grapefruits are very cheap in our country, even though they are imported from hotter climates.

I know grapes are healthy fruit. But we don't often eat it. Normally we like to eat watermelon, apple, banana, pineapple etc. As I think it's troublesome to clean the grapes. I think all fruits are good and healthy for us. I love China[

I do not need to lose fat for actually I'am relatively a bit thin. But I love grepefruit too. At the time the grapefruit come into the market, I eat about one per day. Many girls like" Honey Pomelo Tea"which is made by grapefruit, honey and white sugar. This kind of tea is also my favorite for it is good for skin. Someone who interested in it can surf on the net to find out the making ways.

I eat grapefruit no more than every 4 days. I'm on a rotation diet, avoiding certain foods that my immune system is reacting to. There are 4 categories: Severe reaction - avoid for 3 months Moderate reaction - avoid for 3 months Mild reaction - no more than every 4 days No reaction - eat whenever Grapefruit came up on the mild reaction list. All this in an effort to clear up my psoriasis.

It's a while since I've had a grapefruit - I used to like them for breakfast, with sugar sprinkled over the top. The pink ones are delicious, and I sometimes buy grapefruit juice. I've heard grapefruit are an excellent food for weight loss - must get some soon!

I love grapefruit... I heard that if you eat 1/2 a grapefruit with dinner or drink a glass of grapefruit juice with your meal it will help you lose weight. I do drink grapefruit juice with dinner. I also will try anything healthy to lose the weight around the middle. Let me know if something else works or if this grapefruit diet will work,.,

I eat grapefruit on average about five times per year. I don't know why I don't eat them more often. I don't dislike the taste of grapefruit but I rarely think of buying them. I'm not concerned with my weight or anything like that. I'm not someone that cares about my health. But now that I read this post I'll probably buy some next grocery day.
