IF I had my child to raise again, a poem for all moms

This was published in the Lincoln County Baptist Association News Letter, it is by Diane Loomans If I had my child to raise over again, I d build self esteem first and a house later. I d finger paint more and point the finger less. I would do less correcting and more connecting. I ad take my eyes off my watch and watch with my eyes. I would care to know less and know to care more. I ad take more hikes and fly more kites. I would stop playing serious and seriously play. I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars. I d do more hugging and less tugging, I d see the oak tree in the acorn more often. I would be firm less often and affirm much more. I d model less about the love of power and more about the power of love. I think that there is no more than can be said about that.

I have it posted on my fridge., I try to read it once a week, especially if I am having a really bad day. We sometimes need a reminder that they are only small once.

Thanks Ellie. It is so simply said, we sometimes get so caught up in the things we THINK we have to do that we forget to do the things that we should do
