Yesterday afternoon I made the comment to my sister that I had been needing to go to the bathroom a lot. About an hour later it started to hurt to go and I was only going a very little bit. She said I probably have a UTI. I have never had one before, but she says she has and they are horrible. I am really feeling horrible today! I called the doctor and he can get me in tomorrow at 11 am. In the mean time I am miserable though! Have you ever had a urinary tract infection before? What did you do to ease the misery till it was over?

I am also having a UTI for a week now but it's not as bad as what I felt 5 days ago. Today I feel a lot better after drinking cranberry juice regularly & lots of water. I stop drinking coffee & soda & drink fruit shakes instead. I also refrain from eating salty & instant foods like instant noodles which is a bit salty & junk foods. Discipline is really very important.A little sacrifice brings dramatic results. Here in the Philippines buko juice is considered as a natural remedy for UTI also so I think I'm gonna try it also but for now, I can say that cranberry juice is really good for UTI.

It DEFINITELY sounds like a UTI. Drinks LOTS of Cranberry Juice!! It cleanses out all the yucky stuff and keeps you going also if you live in the USA (like I do) there are some over the counter pills called AZO for urinary tract infections. Get lots of rest and I do believe that it is HIGHLY contagious so keep your toilet clean!! Hope you feel better.

Cranberry juice definately helps Even in normal times when it has cleared up it's worth drinking it regularly as it seems to keep it at bay.

Yes the Cranberry Juice was what I would recommend as well. Yes it is bitter Lily but you know anything that is good for one's body is nice to eat or drink. I wish you all the best with your appointment.

Drink cranberry juice and lots of it. For future reference there is an over the counter med called AZO that works well. But don't take it now that you are going to see the doctor tomorrow. They will want to run tests on your urine and the AZO (which turns your pee BRIGHT orange) will throw off their tests. I feel for ya, hon.

Apparently I had blood in my urine. I got the antibiotics for it and the nurse suggested getting the AZO cranberry pills still too.

HI lilybug - I sure hope you are feeling better by now. Have you seen the doctor yet? About a month or so ago I started getting the same feeling and I did start drinking cranberry juice shortly thereafter. I think it was good that I caught it early because the cranberry juice did the trick and it went away on its own... thank goodness! My sister used to get UTIs all of the time. I know how miserable she was when she was suffering from them. Take care. Jill

UTI really hurts when you pee. It even hurt more when you went to a doctor and get a swab sample on you reproductive organ. Pain didnt go away after a week for me. Proper drinking and peeing is the best way to stay away to this illness.

I have had one or two. They are terrible. If you drink cranberry juice..you will be able to tell a huge differnce in a day. Cranberry juice is very good for this. Even if your symtoms go away though..you still need to go to the doctor and get some antibiotics. I think there are even some cranberry pills you can take that is for urinary tract and kidney infections at the local pharmacy. Cranberry will help you now but if you drink it on a regular basis..it will keep you from having problems in the future too. Take care.

I have been doing the cranberry juice and medication from the doctor. Something I have learned this week is that my daughter likes diluted cranberry juice. That will make it easier for me to drink it in the future since I will not be the only one drinking it.

Oh these are no Fun. No Fun at all, and often times the medications you are given from a doctor do not help for a couple days so it takes a while to get some much needed relief for sure. Usually I have found that drinking cranberry juice is a good solution in the meantime to help out as well.

A UTI is very serious, and the best thing to do is drink alot of water and cranberry juice. its a good thing you are going to see your doctor so he can make sure that's what it is. but make sure you drink alot of water the worst thing you can incounter is a kidney infectino

I am glad I went before it developed into a kidney infection. I was told I did have some blood in my urine, so it was pretty bad.

I've had that a couple of times. It just came on suddenly, I had the urge to go, and within seconds I couldn't hold it anymore. When I went it hurt really bad, and it was just a tinkle. I went to the emergency room, I also had blood with the urine, and they gave me an antibiotic. I drank a lot of water and cranberry juice, and after a day or so I was better. The second time I had it I knew what it was, so I just drowned myself with water and cranberry juice and was again fine after a day or two. By the time you get to the doctor's, if you have been drinking a lot of water, you will probably be okay.

Hi lilybug and smile. Its good that you called a doctor for that. I am thinking that is urinary tract infection. You must take care of your overall health. Drink lots of water to flush those toxins out and yes drinking cranberry juice is good. My husband always have a bottle of ocean spray cranberry juice and its cleanse his system. Happy mylotting and smile always!

Poor you! This is not a joke. Drink lots of water to flush your system through. Cranberry juice is also very good for UTIs. Fill a hot water bottle and place it on your back to keep the area around your kidneys warm. This will ease the pain. If you have CoCodamol, take some to ease the pain. If you have a UTI, you'll need antibiotics. Good luck tomorrow.

Oh no! I recommend lots of water and fruit juice, but nothing acidic like orange or apple juice. So no soda, it will only make you feel worse, trust me! I hope your appointment goes well.

Drink a lot of water.. And I'm sorry to say, once you have it, the chance of getting it again is bigger. =(... It won't be that bad though, cause next time, you would know right away that there is something wrong.. For me, if I already feel that I'm going to have a UTI, I drink lots and lots of water.. It maybe a little annoying to go back and forth to the Comfort room, but it really helps.. Sometimes you won't need to drink any meds.. Just plain old water would do. =)

The nurse at the doctors office told me she gets then all the time. I cannot imagine doing this again. It is horrible. I have been sleeping a lot to help the time pass more quickly. Feeling somewhat better now with having the meds for 48 hours now.

I have never actually had one. But my sister has. She drinks cranberry juice. She has said they are torture. She drinks more water now to avoid getting them more often.

I don't know if I ever had one or not. I have had a bladder infection once, all that really did was cause cramps like I was on my period but I wasn't. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I do hope that you are feeling better today lilybug. I had cystitis once many years ago and I think that this was a urinary tract infection. Oh Boy did it hurt to wee. You tend to hold in it as it hurts so much to urinate. However it is vital that you drink masses of water or cranbury juice. You need the extra liquids to help flush it all out. YOu should be feeling much better today. I hope so. Be kind to yourself.

I had that before! One morning I felt that It hurts to pee and there is blood when I pee. I told my mother about it and we went to the hospital for check up, they had me undergone with blood test and urinary test, I gave them a sample of my urine but they refuse to examine it because blood is so dominant. They thought I had a period. They were no doctors, since we went there about 12 pass, we can't consult a doctor at the moment. We went back home to eat our lunch. My mother has this supplement called liquid chlorophyll,it is a green concentrated leaf extract, you can mix it with water so it won't taste so leafy. It's a cleansing supplement. She decided I'd drink a glass of it an hour or if it hurts continuously, drink it more often. I took my mother's supplement and at the end of the day, the pain disappeared and the blood too and my pee is back to normal. I just experienced it that one day and we didn't went back to the hospital anymore. I'm OK.
