Hi Are there any painters among us? I'm looking at starting to paint pictures with oil's on canvass and have been switched on to Bob Ross and his innivotive way of painting. Does anyone out there use this method and does it work successfully.

It does work. I tried doing a painting of his years ago. I had one of his books that shows you how to paint with his method in step by step lessons. I had never tried oils before that and my attempt wasn't bad for the first time. I never tried it again because it seemed a little intimidating to me since I've always worked with dry mediums: drawing, pastels, etc. If you want to try the Bob Ross technique then go for it. It does work. You just have to practice.

Someone sent me the Bob Ross Master painting kit for a present, the DVD shows how to do it and it looks really easy, I just need to go buy an easel and canvass. But I guess Bob Ross is the expert and it will look easy when he paints. Hey I think I'll just give it a go...
