Ok, for a couple of days ago, there was this huge plain crach. Lots of people vanished from the air, and the earth in a just seconds. This scares me thinking about it. And now, my son is going to London with his father, and it is kind of worrieng me. It is his first fly, and he of course are asking me about it. He is 18, and this trip to London is a gift from his father. And now I am trying not to show him my worries. I can not do that becouse then he would not walk on that plain. Do you think of this when you are going on a plain, when an accident just happend. Or do you worry about it every time you or a famiy memeber are going on the plain? I usually never thought about it before, My daughter got this trip for her 18 birthday to, and that is five years ago. I did not worrie then. For me, this time I am worried becouse of the crach the other day. How ever I am so happy for him. Going out in the world is not that I have the money for my self. It is god to see other countries and the living culture. I do hope he will have a safe trip.

i think you're feeling is just normal anette. i would worry too. im the kind of person who worries too much when it comes to my kids' safety and well being. the last time we rode on a plane me and my youngest, that was last year of november, it did not come to my mind plane going to crash. but yes, we have heard the news here also and was a bit sad... i hope they will find the plane or survivors... a Filipino my countryman was there on that plane also. let's just hope and pray he will have a safe trip... yes it is really good that he go and see other countries... i think he will be happy once he's there, and would enjoy the trip.

His father promised me to textmess me when they have landed the plain in London. It feels god.

By the way, there was three people from sweden. Two young women, one had a little child under 12 year with her. The father and brother was going in another train...that was tragic.

I have traveled a few times on plane and honestly speaking I am never worried of any accidents at all. The truth is while we are myLotting here, there are dozens of planes in the air flying from places to places and there are more landing around the world. I don't think there are that many accidents happening around the world. In fact, if you make a count, the number of accidents related to plane is far less than that of other types of transport. Put it this way, how many planes accident one will hear throughout the year? And how many car accidents are there NOT reported from your local TV? The fact that planes accident is either not exist or extremely fatal is what most people are worried about. While that is very true, the chance is indeed low that I would rather not worry too much. I mean if we were to worry, what about the pilots and flight attendance?

I know it is scary, but more people die in car accidents each year than in plane crashes. But as a mom I am sure it is natural for you to worry. I'll say a prayer for you both.

thank yo AmbiePam. Yes, as a mother you worrie about a lot of things when it comes to the children. As you know my profession is assistance nurse and I see the old lady´s worrie about their children even though they are grown up...they worrie untill the day they die...from day one to last day we are mothers. And always will be.

Hi Anetteh .. I'm 23YO , and I've never been on a plane, all the travels I've made , I used ;and transportation because they weren't for long distances. Anything in our life carries a risk , this risk varies from one thing to another , but we should be able to knwo which things that are too risky and avoid it .. for me I would enjoy riding a plane more than feeling afraid ..

You may find my views a little cynical but the fact of life in the present times is that lives mean precious little even on safe mother Earth with terrorists striking anywhere and everywhere and accidents being order of the day.So what gurantee is there when you are hanging 35000 feet above in the skies thanks to the technology which enables us all to do so.You simply prey and hope for a safe take-off and landing. With all the scientific tools at our command The Bermuda Triangle still remains a deep mystry. This does not mean I am detering anyone least of all you from wishing your son a happy sojourn to London.I join you in wishing him all the very best.

You are not cynical. It is the facts...we do have a higher precent to die in a car accident than in a plain crach. I am just a mother, and mothers do worrie al the time...no matter the reason.

Hello ... don't worry dear ... he will be OK ... these accidents don't occur frequently this is the first time that I hear about one since many years ago ... anyways try to make him travel through other airport with has much more modern plane ... this will relieve your anxiety ... wish him a happy travel and pray for him and as I told you he will be good ... don't show him your worries not to scare him ... let him enjoy his travel ... Have a nice day ...

I don't think about it that much. But for me plain is safer compared to ships. A ship will travel for days and nights before it reach its destination, while an air plain will do it for a couple of hours or a day. The shorter the time consumed while traveling the safer it is. That's what I believe I don't know about you guys. Well I can't blame you for worrying for your sons safety. You're scared because of the plain crash at the Atlantic Ocean. Just pray that nothing bad happens to the trip of your son.

the odds of a plain crash are fare less than a car crash so idont understand why people fear planes more.
