I have been a smoker for a few years now and planned several times to stop this habit but I couldn't. Then I set an age limit for me to stop but I doubt that i'm going to quit smoking when I reach the certain age. Will you ever stop smoking? If you do please give tips on how did you quit this bad habit.

Hi there! I know a lot of people who are smokers who were able to stop smoking but only for a while and went back to smoking after a couple of weeks or so. I even have a cousin who made it as his New Year's resolution to quit smoking but given up after a week and had to suffer from a month of teasing from me. I used to be a smoker but then I got pregnant. I stopped smoking and didn't go back to the habit even long after I gave birth. I still smoke once in a while, usually when on drinking sessions but I don't really crave for it. I would recommend chewing some gum or snack on fruits whenever you feel like smoking. Just something to keep your mouth busy. Maybe print out details about lung cancer and read it everytime you feel the urge to smoke. Whatever kind of motivation works for you.

Thanks for the tips nanayangel. Yeah gum or snack are the best replacement for smoking because our mouth need to be doing something when were not smoking. I've decided many times to stop smoking but the longest was 3 days. I'm also very thin and stoping this smoking habit will help me get more flesh. Thanks for the response.

I have tried several times to quit. I know I need to. I know I have to. I just have to set a date and do it. It will not be easy. I will probably get a big bag of suckers or hard candy to keep my mouth occupied. Smoking is an oral thing. I will use substitution as a way to help me quit.

Smoking to be harmful to health, which no one do not know. However, it is the non-smokers do not really ,I think this is not a determination.

Gave up smoking for six months a few years ago. I took zyban. But one night I went out drinking and thought one smoke would not mater. The next day I was a smoker again. I gave myself a age limit, it's been and gone. I think the only way to give up is if you really want to. It won't stick if your half hearted about it.
