Have you ever been "passed over?"

There seems to be a recurring theme in real life and in fiction where the obvious successor is passed over in favor of someone else. I was watching the movie Gladiator and the thought occurred to me of how it is similar in ways to the story of Moses. Both men were not the obvious choice to succeed a powerful father figure, yet they were chosen. I remember once long ago being passed over for a job which went to someone far less qualified due to my having a medical emergency. It really hurt that I didn't get that job but had to take a lesser position later on. What about you? Have you ever been passed over for anything? How did you deal with the situation?

I believe that the loss of that job had a long-reaching effect on my life, sarah, but I made the best of it. I have also heard those rumors about the royals and I agree that some things are pretty much set in stone.

I have been passed over so many times all of my life. I am used to it but I know my self worth. I just look over it and go on to bigger and better things. I look at it like it is their loss.

Yes, a position that I wanted opened up at my job. One time I sort of made it known that I would like that position, but I did not push it. They ended up hiring the daughter of one of the Senior employees there. I was kind of upset about it, but it was a small family owned business so there was nothing I could really do about it.

I would say that you handled the situation admirably, ladym, because we learn quickly that life is not always fair.

If I really want a job I go after it and I get it. I have had to try several times for one job but I got it. Another I took the test and made sure I passed it and got the job. I find out all I can about the job and what they want and they I go after it. I may take some research and asking around but I get the job done as they say. Most of the time I just luck into a job but the times I set out to get one I have always gotten it.

You must be very goal-oriented, celticeagle, and that's not a bad thing.
