the advantage of being online

is no one can know if you are really telling the truth, the disadvantage of being online is that no one an tell if you are really telling the truth. Someone just sent me a message and I have no idea if they were lying to me. How do you know anything about anyone online? Do people know anything about you here? How do you know anyone is who they say they are? How do you know that I really a 24 year old girl from Great Britain and not a 12 year old boy from hawaii?

it is difficult to find out about people whoa re virtual. sometimes i feel it is not necessary to know everything about every body you meet on internet. you are 3cardmonte for me and i am abanerji for you. we are connect with this discussion and will be connected with further discussions. beyond this if we wish to carry our relationship then we must know who we are. our true identies would matter then. if the relationship is true then there would be trust and if there is trust then revealing the facts would not be a problem. i have some virtual friends who have become very good friends in my real life. we have even met eachother and known eachother closely.

I guess you just have to take a leap of faith. I wouldn't start a relationship online or anything, but so long as no one is hurt, I don't see anything wrong with chatting with strangers online. The other disadvantage to being online is that a lot of people are their very worst online. People get on fan sites just to tell the bloggers their favorite band sucks, or that the actor they're crushing on is gay (whether or not it is true). Thank goodness sites are putting in protocols and encourages readers to report site abuse. If only these sites had lie detectors for users, too!

Well lying that is just stupid lol. Even though people do lie online wich is a great advantage since you can lie and people will beleave you but its also a bad thing mainly like you said people lying about there age or gender especially when it comes to meeting the person. For the most part lying online is a bad thing and there more disadvantages then advantages.

Those are really interesting questions I also wish I knew when someone is really telling the truth. I guess that all I can do is trust and hope that they are honest and nice people. On my part I don't like to lie because there is no point because I'm hear to make friends and coment on discussion that I think are interesting. So there is no point on lying when this site is just all about personal opinios or coments.

We are not really sure if the person online is really telling us the truth unless of course if they are our friends or someone that we know know them too. Many people do go online are lying and many also are telling the truth. It is up to us if we are really going to believe anything that they tell us. And what will we get if a person is lying online?

You don’t know it in the beginning, I mean you’re right, it might be a 12 year old from Hawai, and there is much space for lies and deceit around here. However, if you want to actually deal with that person over a period of time, for whatever reason, you’d probably find out about it. It’s very difficult to maintain lies and deceit over any considerable period of time, and yes, there is a lot of nonsense in the Internet, a lot of false claims. But I believe you can work your way around it.
