If You Attend Church, How Many Churches Have You Been Baptized In?

This is probably a thought most people here would never consider. Maybe you are one that has never attended Church, or were Baptized as a child, or attended the same Church all your life. Or maybe you are like me, baptized in one, and then left to be baptized in another. For me, I guess the real thing is if you are a Church goer, and a Baptized member of the Church you are attending, are you Happy there, or would you consider changing if it meant being Baptized again? Both times I was baptized in water, but the true difference is I am more Happier in the Church I attend now, and know this is where I need to attend for sure. So what about you? Share some of your thoughts and experiences as well. ~~TINA~~

I don't attend church but have attended church in the past with family. I've never been baptized, atleast not that I can remember, and mom said I never was. Now though my fiance and I are thinking about attending the church we are to be married in and I would need to be baptized. I'm scared though because I've never seen anyone be baptized and while I know that you can be sprinkled, doused, or drenched in water, the fact that I'd be in front of people would be the embarrassing part. I guess I don't sound like a good christian because of it, but I've had to learn about christianity all my life from just asking. I was never forced to go to church, and I don't regret it not resent anyone for it either. Lol, sorry for getting off topic. I hope though to stay at this one church, although I know the possibility of switching churches for whatever reason is a possibility.

There is nothing embarrassing about it, everyone in that church has done the same thing, this is an exciting time in the life of a Christian, you are in fact following Christ example of being baptized.

I still have a lot to learn, but I hadn't actually thought about everyone else doing it too, which is true! lol! It doesn't matter when your baptized I don't guess. I appreciate your comment to me, it really made me think in a way I hadn't before. I feel silly though, I must admit.

honestly, as much as I can say that I have accepted christ into my heart, I haven't yet been baptized. It's something that makes me sad because it doesn't only help me to just believe because I haven't been confirmed.

Hi, becca, welcome to MyLot. Find a church that you like to attend and be baptized. It is an outward testimony of the inward grace that God has given you by forgiving you. Please come hang around here as well. We are a mostly friendly group.

I have only been baptized once. I've gone to the same denomination even though I've been a member of more than one church. Our denomination says one only has to be baptized once. When you're saved and ready to be baptized, you get baptized. Nobody even suggests we have to get baptized because we changed churches. In other words, once is enough.

I've been dunked more times than I can count. When I lived in the American south, every different church (not denomination, church building) insisted on having me swim for them. The church I attend at the moment is rather radically different from most protestant faiths, and they also insisted that I also take the dive.

I was baptized when I was twelve years old. I accepted Christ into my life and started to walk my walk with him, I have not been and baptized since. If you are truly baptized and have really accepted Christ and have given your life over to him then there is no reason to be Baptized again. Sine I was baptized I have changed church homes many times due to moving to different cities etc. and have yet to be baptized again.

I still live in my hometown, and attend the same church where I was baptized as a child. I moved from my childhood home into a new apartment which is actually walking distance from the church, instead of all the way across town. I will definitely send this discussion to my husband. He's attended quite a few churches.

I have only been baptized once. I do not attend that church anymore, I am in a different state. I believe it only takes once. I am a member of the church I attend. I have no desire to change churches. The congregation meets my spiritual needs.

I was baptized as a baby in a catholic church. Now that I am an adult, I go to a Lutheran Church. I would have never thought about being rebaptized. I did change membership, so I am a member of my church now. I don't feel I need to be rebaptized.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that there was only one Baptism. I know if you join a church coming form a different denomination, you may need to be baptized. I was baptized once, when I decided to join a Baptist church. Previously, I was a Methodist, and had only been sprinkled, so in order to join the Baptist church I had to be baptized. If I were to leave my church and go to another, I wouldn't need to get baptized again, because I have already been.

I have been baptized once. I was baptized in the church I grew up in. I attended that church from the age of five to twenty three years old. I currently am a member of another church in another city. I believe that there is nothing wrong with being baptized more than once because I believe that being baptized serves as a symbol of dedicating your life to Christ.

I was baptized as an infant, of course, that was not by my choice. I attended that denomination unitl I was out of college, then started attending a non-denominatinal church. I have been baptized three times since then, including one time in the Jordan River when I went to Israel. It was not necessary for me to be baptized but the one time. It was my choice the other times because I believe that the Lord was opening a new door or chapter in my life and He was asking me to leave the old behind. I do not believe that one needs to be baptized each time they change churches.

Why do you have to be baptized at each church you attend? Just curious. I was baptized against my will as an infant personally.

I have always attended church since I was a little kid and I have been baptised in the same church I grew up with. I wasn't baptized a child. In my church we don't believe in child baptism. We believe that a person has to decide for him/herself whether he/she wants to acknowledge the church as his/her own and accepts the teachings and doctrines. Jesus was baptized when he was 30 years old which means he was old enough to make the decision for himself and we follow the same practice/principle and the immersion in water.

I would not be "re" baptised as I believe in ONE baptism and to be rebaptised to me would be saying I did not believe it "worked"

I was baptized when I was 16 at the Pentecostal church that I attended. It is the only time I was ever baptized. I'm glad I did it, just to know that I have been baptized.
