I am not really the best writer there is. But I am one of those, who would want to try out my potentials. I started making a blog a few weeks back, and to this date... I didn't earn a single penny. At first, I thought, it's just fine, maybe it'll take a few more months before I start earning. However, when my sister just started a blog of her own, she already earned afew cents, in just a few days. I asked her about a tip, and she told me, she only wrote about her interests. I believe I did the same thing...but how come I am not earning anything. My blog is posted on my profile page...can you guys check it out, and tell me what am I doing wrong?

First off, let me applaud you for testing the water so to speak. If you're trying to make money with your blog, you might want to do a search on what you're blogging about. Check out other blogs that are similar, see what they have to say - even post to those blogs and form a network so to speak. After you've done that, I would suggest using wordtracker and learning about SEO words on your particular topic to generate traffic to your blog. Social networking is key and it works!! Try that and see if it works - if not that, try a new spin on your interests. I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck.

When applying for jobs in freelancing, I believe I came across a client who asked me about SEO and social networking. I don't know much about it, so my application was turned down despite the fact that I qualified in some of the required skiils. I never had the interest to know more about it. Every time I try surfing the net about this topic, I just get all bored easily. Can you tell me a little about it, without going so much into jargons? And thaks for the tip by the way.

well, the layout could use a little pizzazz since your topics are mostly about makeup and other beaty related issues. also, keywords are great especially when you want to have your blog in the top searches. links to other sites that can complement or provide more inf about your topic helps too. i've learned that patience is a virtue, and it is. i have been making some money off blogging. but what I do is to just write as if i'm not trying to earn through writing. that way, your articles will come out much better. you know what they say when comparing commercialized products against products you make for the people you love or for yourself? the second type of product is actually way better. anyway, i've found a site that helped me a lot when i first started blogging. this site is a sort of blogging network where you earn a small amount every month just by blogging about your interest. i tested the waters so to speak through blogging there. and for 2 months, i managed to be in the top bloggers and earned a small amount. if you want to check it out, please see my profile and check my blog. the article is about getpaidfrom.us.

Hi, I think that your sister is right. Write about your interest and your life. You might want to add some humor to your posts and it will surely attract a lot of people to your blog. Then, you will start making money.

Often times it's not about how good of a writer you are but how many readers you earn. You sister might have a lot of friends looking into her blog while you refrained from marketing your own blog - thinking that traffic comes along naturally. The truth is some people really just need to work on increasing their traffic in order to earn enough. That's something I learned the hard way. And I also learned that increasing back links actually help. Here's a few tips that I wrote: http://www.thingswelovetohate.com/2009/05/how-to-increase-backlinks-for-blogger.html I hope you find that useful! Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

My advice is instead of a blog make a lens. Its easy there is plenty of people who can help you and the sky is the limit. Go to squidoo. You can copy and paste what you already did and if you need help with grammar I can Help you. And its real easy to sell and desplay things there its totally free.

Okay, as a newbie... I admit I got lost in the terms you used. What's a lens? Is that different from a blog? And I believe Squidoo is another blogging website right? How do I transfer there?

I have the same problem. It is probably the template or our stuff we are writing about. I wish I was able to have the talent and luck like your sister did.

Yeah, I know. For starters... it's normal to find it hard. But I am not giving up. This is something that I am interested about...and would gladly learn about it. I am even thankful for fellow Mylotters, who ook the time to view my blog. I appreciate any comments...positive or negative...as long as it's for the sake of learning and not for the sake of criticizing just to belittle others.
