Do you live near a state park?

Do you live near a state park? If so, do you go there often? I live within about 15 minutes away from a state park and yet, I rarely go there. I find that the $5.00 per car cost causes me to steer away from it, plus I find that I get bored with it if I go there more than once or twice per year. I think that it is important to visit our local parks and landmarks, but I would like to go other places than the state park nearby.

We don't live near a state park but we do have two somewhat large caves around us. We visit those every so often. I would visit a state park more often if we had them around us.

We have a few caves south of us but I have never been. I don't like water so I have always been nervous around caves.

Yes I sure do! :) In Texas we have a TON of them. My hubby and I bought a pass that allows us to enter any of the State parks as many times as we'd like. Very convenient since we camp so much.

Sounds nice. I think that they offer park passes here for about $40, but I haven't ever gotten one. I enjoy camping and wish I could do more of it.

I live near several Arkansas State Parks which are a two hour drive or less from our home. They include Degray in Arkadelphia, Lake Catherine in Malvern, Jenkins Ferry in Leola, Lake Ouachita (pronounced washitah)in Hot Springs, Pinnacle Mountain is in Little Rock, Petit Jean in Morrelton, Toltec Mounds and the Plantation Agricultural museum are both state parks which are a fantastic place to visit if you're interested in history. We also live an hour from Hot Springs National Park and Ouachita Mountain National Forest!

I am lucky because the state parks in my state do not charge an admission fee. Anyone can go there at any time for free! There are charges for using certain parts - like the camping areas or the swimming pool - but that is it. I am also lucky because we have great local parks all over the place. There is even a national park that I pass every day. I would love to be able to spend more time in all of the parks, but it just isnt possible at the moment. My life should get far less hectic in July. I will start going to the parks more often then! I never get bored at them.

You are lucky to have free admission and to have a national park nearby. I like to go to the parks. I hope that you get to enjoy them more soon.
