Hi there,I am facing a strange problem. I am running on windows xp machine and whenever i open any folder in my computer, in the title bar, only first letter of the folder is displayed. All i mean is, if i open MyComputer, in title bar of my windows displays only "m" and rest wiped out. It happens with all the folders in my computer. I have installed proper antivirus with updates and also with some adware programes and all are working fine. Please find attached the screen shot. Can anybody look into the matter? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

i think its spyware. what is the antivirus program ur using? there are some that aren't reliable though. also is it updated? coz unless if not, then there's chance that the antivirus can't detect it.

Yeah .. I think so, however i am using the Eset Nod32 antivirus and also spyware terminator , but none of these could repair the thing.

This might feel stupid, after all the tries u have given to it. But Please, if u havent tried this software, try it. Goto www.filehippo.com and download a software called HiJackthis(spelling might not be correct but something like this). Install it and run it.After Searching it will give you a list of malicious code found. Dont select all and say delete.Just go thru the list and find something related to your problem, select it and delete. Hope it helps or get back to me

then only one option which is easier and ends all the miseries.Back up all your important data and format the c drive(drive with windows installation) and fresh install.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have downloaded the software and installed. It shows all the processes runs on my system and i have gone through bit by bit, however could not find any suspicious item in the list and when i tried fixing one of the elements amongst them , it gives a waring of " it will permanently delete....", so i have escaped from that..

I think this is the only option i have left with. I am doing some r&d and let's see what's happen. I just curious about one thing, if i left the system like this, is there any problem i have to face ?

Try turtleguys suggestion first. If it doesn't work a virus or malware has infected your registry and you should update or replace your anti virus with another one and when you do, please do not surf the internet since you are very vulnerable when you are installing a new anti-virus.

I have tried that, but it did not give any result. I think by tweaking registry it may fix the problem and let's what happens. Thanks

No. Do not tweak the registry if you are not familiar with it.
